Chemical roulette.
A couple of eggs over easy and crisp hash browns mashed together on the plate with some black pepper sprinkled on and then some ketchup is good.
At the local diner I will get an 8oz ribeye steak with the aforementioned eggs and hash browns. I get rye toast to wipe up the egg and ketchup combination. It's one of my favorite breakfast meals

Vinegar will do the same thing. It's a process called pickling. The acid reacts with the iron oxide. Ketchup is the expensive way to go. I can get a gallon of vinegar for less than the price of a bottle of Heinz ketchup.
