Don't know when they will be available but I've been after this off and on for years!! Been talking with Walt about it for a couple of years and comparing notes. He's happy, im happy, shouldn't be too long.Is there a Gated Kirst Konversion for the Ruger Old Army to be available sometime soon? No hints at the Kirst website.
"+P" out of a conversion cylinder, impressive and most interesting! Given the robust nature of the Kirst conversion kit construction, I had always thought the limitation to reduced "cowboy" loads was underrating the Kirst.
Also interesting is the prominent "corona starburst" at the business end of the cylinder chambers, what projectiles were used?
Yessir, i will be adding one to this one as well!!Big improvement. Is there a closable gate in the works?
My biggest problem with the Howell type cylinder is the support that the rear cap offers. It's not 100%. The full conversion plate that Kirst uses gives 100 % support to back up the cart. case. Not to mention, a "drop cyl" in a ROA is a pain!!Has anybody used hotter loads in the Howell cylinders?
Any problems with operating the Kirst prototype without a loading gate? Careful modifications to a standard Kirst might be a good temporary work around to mimic the prototype. We don't need no stinking loading gates.
