Property taxes! Poop

I don't think we should be too surprised at the increase in property taxes when we consider the astronomical increases in "property values" as reflected in the real estate transactions we see these days.
Yeah I mentioned they get their increase regardless because they will raise the rate percentage one year and the valuation the next and the cycle continues to repeat.

^^^So how do you propose to magically provide local government services????
Back in pioneer days settlers were on their own to take care of what ever problems arose. That didn't work and vigilante justice took over. Also not a good plan so communities got together and hired lawmen(gunfighters) and pooled $$ (ie: taxes) to support them. 200 years later, here we are.

I have already mentioned a la carte and it should be through private providers just like internet and TV. Pay for what you use. Nothing more. Cut all the waste. The highest performing service providers get the most business while the rest fail. A majority of tax dollars go to pay the people needed for government to merely exist, not for the services. It's a perpetual motion, self-propagating wasteful machine.

While I don't disagree with GasGuzzler's previous comments, I can't see it working well or even at all since there are so many variables. Government is a self-propagating monster with so many pigs feeding at the trough that someone has to pay to fill.

They continually raise taxes to raise salaries. It used to be that people took government jobs because, even though the pay sucked, the benefits and retirement plans were great. Now the salaries are good and the benefits have stayed the same.

I don't remember where I was living at the time, there was an economic downturn but the town decided to give its employees raises because "they deserved it." There was nearly a riot at a meeting with townsfolk saying "I haven't seen a pay raise in years."
