PROBLEM WITH A BISLEY CONVERSION

I converting a standard BH to a Bisley. I acquired a Bisley grip, previously fitted and a Bisley hammer and trigger, all Ruger parts. The frame mates up very well and the trigger and hammer went in easy as well. However, now the cylinder latch isn't working and will not lock the cylinder in place when the hammer is pulled back. I've done several conversion of this type and have not had this issue.

Any ideas what is wrong? The gun is a 357 Mag with 4 5/8 barrel and 8 - 9 years old.

It sounds like the plunger isn't contacting the cylinder latch. The small plunger coming up from the grip frame must be in contact with the cylinder latch to press it up against the cylinder. That would be first thing I'd look at. Just take it apart and reassemble it, taking care to position the plunger correctly. There isn't much surface on the latch for the plunger to ride against and the whole assembly can go together with the plunger out of place, giving one the impression that all is in place. It sounds like an easy fix.

I've had it apart three times and did check that but I'll try that again.

could there be a problem with the hammer plunger?

Latch spring and plunger are not in place.
Remove the cylinder and with the hammer down, push down on the latch. It should pop right back up if the parts are in place and not damaged.
