Problem with Ruger GP100 44 special barrel face in forcing cone area?

Hi all,
Took my GP 100 in 44 special, 3 inch barrel in SS, out for some target practice with PMC 180 gr 44 special, some 200 gr cowboy action light loads, and a few Underwood 255 gr. Came home and cleaned it and see what I think is a fine crack across the top of the barrel/forcing cone at the 12 o clock position. It's very tiny, best seen with a bright light at an angle. Can feel it with the tip of a fine screwdriver. Doesn't appear to be deep, yet. Is there something I can put on it that would seep into a crack and make it more visible? I figure it will need to go back to Ruger, but I want to make sure it's really there and visible to them. Thanks!

I wouldn't bother with further investigation. The cracked forcing cone is a known issue. I really love mine but am very mindful to keep pressures low. I'd guess maybe the Underwood ammo was a little on the plus P side.

Sorry to bring bad news, but Ruger will take care of you I'm sure.

I called Ruger Customer Service yesterday and explained what I found to a clueless representative; he recommend I just watch it and if the crack gets worse, to call back! I then sent a note through Ruger's web site explaining the problem and the foolish response I got from their CS. I expect to get a request to send it in.
