Wondering if I could get some input, really looking to add a .44 Ruger Carbine, Model 44 / Deerslayer ?
to my collection, wondering what the price range would be for one that is in very good to excellent condition.

In general,, a LOT depends upon which model you get. If you get an early one,, marked "Deerstalker" you will pay a lot more. Then there are a few variations within the model that make a difference in values. Such as factory peep sights etc.

That said,, from about $900 to $2000 can be expected. A common variation,, in very good condition,, I'd say more in the $1200 range.

Is this gun "in your face" or are you just wondering what you might pay for one? Availability can add a premium to a price, but in some cases there might be a seller who doesn't know what they have. Those guns were priced several hundred dollars above what practicality would indicate back in the day, moreso now. I think Contender is pretty spot on ^^^

Watch for a cracked stock at the wrist. There is a Deerstalker for sale locally ... no takers at $1175 and with a cracked stock. Gun is nice otherwise. It's been for sale for over a month.

Other than buying off the internet which can be iffy local is the way to go and my regional prejudice tells me you are better off price wise in Montana than you would be say in.... New Jersey. But I would be looking at gun broker just to get an idea of availability
