Don’t mail me something I have to recycle or throw away.

If the link leads to a paywall, you can't share it. My magazines found second and third homes for decades.

yet demand they print, handle and snail mail something they can get to their “supporters” virtually free.

When I signed up nearly a half century ago, I was promised a magazine in the mail every month. I never agreed to a change of terms.

send no love the NRA way for finally getting him gone.

It took them about thirty years too long to show him the door. Why should I send love?

Fear not intrepid gunners. The NRA decision to go digital will only be causing wailing and gnashing of teeth for a very few short years. Then all the old guys will be dead.

Rot. I'm no dinosaur but I like printed magazines. Far too many things/activities force you to use a computer. Have a question in a magazine? Takes far less time than booting up your laptop.

MANY of us do not use "online look-up" stuff.

Many of us do not want to spend all day sitting at a computer. And we also do not want to try & read an article on a 3" screen (phones,) etc.

I can toss a magazine in my truck, and if I need to wait on something,, I can enjoy sitting back & reading a real page of printed stuff.

I do get on the computer for emails, a couple of Forums, and the occasional other stuff. My business stuff, is on my computer,, and it has often been a cause of much confusion, frustration, and other crap. I hate using it like that.
In my business,, I'm required by regulation,,, (NCWRC) to submit a quarterly report of the permits I write for the handling of wildlife. THREE & ONE HALF years ago,, they decided to "update" THEIR system,, saying it's make it better. We were told to "temporarily use a different method of uploading these reports." It was harder to use,, and required more work for me. As of the latest quarter,, (just a few weeks ago,) I'm STILL using the "temporary" method. They have NOT fixed anything. It's worse.

It's things like this that make me totally prefer a printed magazine to online crap.

American Handgunner went totally online. They lost me as a subscriber. The "Backwoodsman" magazine, first increased the cost, then went online. They lost me. and now they are gone, totally. Penny has had a few magazines she subscribed to. They too have lost her now because of how they have "managed" their business.

Printed magazines do have their place.

The NRA could have easily offered the CHOICE to subscribers about a printed magazine OR just an online subscription. Yes,, it's an expense. But as us older folks die off, and the younger types who grew up with it everything online,, they would slowly reduce the printed subscriptions to where they could easily go away.

I'm also on a BOD for the NCRPA. We dropped our printed newsletter due to the expense. This happened in the last year. Now,, we are seeing a drop in membership renewals. My PERSONAL belief is that when members don't get a printed reminder,, they do not renew,, AND many do not want to use an online renewal because of hackers accessing financial data. It may not have happened yet,, be we all have seen where hackers have accessed many corporations, or whatever to get personal data.

Call me a stubborn cuss. I hate the forced online crap that is driving this world now. I believe we should have options.

Laptop? Most people don't even have a computer anymore, laptop or desktop. Most web surfing is done on pocket computers today. I don't get it, a tiny screen and a crappy keyboard. I can't see trying to read for pleasure on my pocket box with its tiny screen.

When my kids were born I filled a box with magazines from their birth month / week.

When my last nephew was born it was a challenge to find any to save. I think all he has is a Rifleman magazine and very few others.

My May print issue just arrived. 96 pages, of which at least half is advertising. And when they actually saw fit to sneak in an "article" the print is so small even my new bifocals have a herd time making it readable.

And why do you think that is, could it be because they keep doing stuff that upsets folks? .....
The fact of the matter is that the NRA is a touchy subject these days, even among long time members. That is something that has been a long time building up and it ain't likely to change anytime soon whether it's members get to vent on this forum or not...In fact, if you get your wish, and NRA discussions do get banned, it may have a much different effect from what you may be hoping for.

IMHO, there are too many members on the Board of Directors. I they they should cut this back to no more than a dozen. It is expensive to send so many BOD members to the annual meetings, etc. There is a BOD member close to me who lies on his bio, stating that he goes on the local radio stations, writes letters to the local newspaper, etc. This guy is a total fraud. They are like professionsl politicians and should have limits to the BOD. I think they should clean inside their house before taking the magazines away for our members. Thank you.

IMHO, there are too many members on the Board of Directors.

The BOD has so many members because the NRA is a huge organization with many activities. Board members are involved with all the different programs. If you cut it back to a dozen, it would become a full time job.

As noted above, the NRA has a LOT of different programs,, and as such, BOD members get assigned to several committees to oversee & help these programs. If we had just a dozen BOD members,, it would be just like politicians & we'd have to pay them a LOT to handle a stress filled full time job.

Expose the BOD member for his lies. If you can prove he's lying,, then do so. Educate the voting members & he'll lose his BOD position.
File formal challenges to his bio, or his radio appearances , ask for proof of his letters to the newspapers, etc. Find out if any of the newspapers have printed his letters.
Basically prove to the rest of the BOD & the members that member is a fraud.

There has been a serious "house cleaning" by the members in the last 2 elections. It takes a 3 year cycle of members voting to get rid some of them.

I PERSONALLY know a couple of NRA BOD Directors. They are working HARD at reforming the NRA & such. I also know a 3rd one,, whom will not get my vote when the next cycle comes around because of how they have not performed in the past. And I will be supporting those who can & will do as we the members require them to do.
