I am in the market for a holster that will allow me to carry my new to me Super Redhawk with a 7.5" barrel. I am considering the Bandito Shoulder Belt and the Bandito Shoulder Holster with removable flap from Pistol Packaging Holsters http://www.pistolpackaging.com/category_s/48.htm .

Do any of you have experience with this holster setup or another recomedation?

Would like a holster that can carry with and without the scope.

I don't have that particular holster, but do use the Bandito Belt with my Contender and it is a great system. I have been eyeing the scoped revolver holster for my SRH as well. Not sure about the one with the removeable flap so also looking forward to a report on it.

While I too do not have that brand of holster,,, I can offer a tiny bit of info.
For most longer barreled guns, especially scopes ones, a cross chest, type is the most comfortable way to carry the gun. It also allows reasonably quick access in hunting,, and can be worn over clothes to where it's accessable.
In general,, for those of us who enjoy bigger guns,, a cross chest design is best.
Now, finding one that fits you, and balances the weight properly, can ber a bit of a challenge.
Just for giggles,, check out Mike Barranti's design. He has a website,,, barranti leather. Most comfortable one I've ever put on.

I have a Flapjack with the Chest Puller system on a SBH 5.5. Very comfortable and easy to carry all day. The flap also is removable if you are wanting that feature. Can't brag enough on one of these.

The one I have was made by a fellow out of Mt. It's very comfortable and seems pretty well balanced. It doesn't have a flap but the holster itself comes up high enough to cover all the steel. I don't know if he can adopt it to carry a scoped RH but the standard RH fits very well.

I'm wearing it very low but all straps are adjustable by way of Chicago screws. You can contact him at [email protected] and he can email you a pdf catalog of what he builds.

Ironhead, I have a pistol packaging set up and like it. One of the things I like is you don't have to worry about your pants creeping down. But I also use it to change out other holsters. Very comfortable to carry. I"ve had holsters made so I can use it with the shoulder set up.

I like to shoulder carry in the field. I use a M7 Holster for my Beretta Brigadier and 1911. Keeps it in close. As all know the Super Redhawk is a big heavy revolver. Now to decide between cross chest or bandolier.

BTW I had the Ruger at the range yesterday for the first time and hit the 8" plate at 10:00 at 50 yards with the first shot. This is my first handgun with a scope and a barrel longer than 5".

For concealed wear with my 7.5" 357 Redhawk I use my Milt Sparks HSR made for my 5.5" Redhawks (its open muzzle allows it!).
And a good belt.....

I use the Pistol Packaging system for all my handgun hunting.
I use the same shoulder rig with holster for:
Ruger MKII-22 auto
T/C with 14' bbl
S&W 629-6"bbl.

All seem to work well. I use a leather boot lace to ties the bottom of the holster around my waist. That way I can walk, run, or climb and have the holster flop.
