Just got a good deal. I was looking at the redhawk 10mms and saw the Blackhawk for $200+ less. So far looks good I'll give it a try when (if) it stops snowing!

Darn wrong form! Please move! Don't text in a moving vehicle.

I think you will like it. Last year I bought a longer one. Here under my 1976 Blackhawk in 357 Mag.

Then this year I bought the shorter barrel length. Here with my Ruger/Williams Blackhawk in 357/9mm.

I didn't have a clue that BH in .40/10mm was made also in stainless. Assuming barrel is 6.5".

Also, looks like that .40/10mm cylinder is bit longer than for 357.

I bought a 6.5 inch while trying to find a 4.62. It is a real shooter with no QC issues at all. I use the 40 cylinder about 90% of the time. Fairly cheap 40+ bore fun.

So far it's been great! I wish that the sight were better but they are OK. The gripe I've got is that locally 40 ammo isn't a whole lot heaper than 10mm unless I go to Al or steel cases and real junk loads. Now that Ive got dies I'll gt reloading RSN (Real Soon Now). oing to try cutting down a tree with it.

Some real beauties, I'm jealous, wish I had the money to pick some of those up.

How hard can you push the 10mm out of Blackhawk?
Can you load to push 200gr to go 1,250+fps?
Also, what is the heaviest bullet available for 10mm?

Could a guy ream it out to a 10mm magnum? Double tap has a 230gr load at 1250 fps. Starline has the brass.

1ruger Buffalo Bore has factory loads pushing 220 grain bullet to between 1140 and 1201 fps in 4/5" barrels. Hornady has 10mm bullets up to 300 gr (the 325 are discontinued apparently). Ive seen some reloading info for 250gr at 1400fps but I can't find it now.

32shooter th blakhawk comes n 10mm! .40==10mm :roll: :roll:

Got a chance to measure my Blackhawk cylinder.
Total l=1.7+
Length to sholder ls=0.992. (SAAMI & measured)

10M&M case 1.242. (http://www.sixguns.com/tests/tt10mag.htm)
Case 1.255 (https://loaddata.com/Cartridge/10mm-Magnum-Accurate-Data-Loading-Guide-2/4049)
COL 1.555 max (ibid).

I've found a couple posts where a 10mm reamer was used to recut the shoulder successfully!

I believe that the answer is yes!

With limited data from https://loaddata.com/Cartridge/10mm-Magnum-Accurate-Data-Loading-Guide-2/4049
1380 fps with a 200 gr bullet is a Max load.
Double tap lists it at 1450 fps;
230 gr8 at 1250fps.

Regular 10mm is a good hunting cartridge and 10M&M just a bit less punch than the 41 mag.
41 mag 210 gr 1545 fps.

I use mostly 180 gr. 40 in mine vs trying to make it a magnum. It is a modern version of the 38-40.

32 shooter, rechambering a Blackhawk from 10mm to 10mm magnum should be straight forward. Remember, though, once it's done you will not be able to shoot 10mm's anymore since they headspace on the mouth of the case. Rechambering the 40 cylinder may be the way to go if one wants to continue to use 10mm's. Bob! :)

If a replacement for a lost cylinder could be obtained then it could become a 10mm mag.
