Ok, I've never done anything with paypal. I ordered a $80 item from a website and paid with a credit card that went through paypal. I returned item and received a Email from paypal that said to create an account to except my $80. I created an account and clicked on "Except your $80" but am lost now. Will my refund be automatically credited back to my CC? How long does that take? Thanks for any help you can give.

I think it sits there until you request it returned. I don't know if they will do it by check or CC refund. There will probably be a fee either way.

Get your credit card company involved!
Document every bit of it and as you send the documentation to your CC, send a
copy to PayPal making note of your sending the same information to your credit
card company. PayPal can NOT afford to have a CC company drop them from
making further charges. As such, my bet is that they will "suddenly" place emphasis
on the return of your money.

PP really likes you to keep money in "their" account, but I believe there is a refund my cc option. I have dealt with them for years ( yeah, I know...) but never had this type of issue.
since you created an account with PP the money should be there for you to transfer back to your bank or possibly credit card account... of course there may very well be a fee for doing this.

I found this on PP but I can't find anywhere to confirm that this is in the process of happening. I've sent messages to PP Help Line but the answers I get back don't help at all. I guess I have to keep checking my CC account. Maybe I just need to be patient.

About four years ago or so I had a similar issue with Paypal! I had a tough time getting my refund.
Took a lot of time and trouble they play you along as long as they can or till you give up.
Never ever do business with them NEVER! I had my fill! Do not give up, that's what their hoping for. ps

Just call them.. you will actually talk to someone.
Their customer service has always been excellent for me. I once LOST $300 inside of an ATM... got the reciept, but no cash... ON A SATURDAY....
I called them and my $$$ was back in my account while I was still on the phone with them.
YES.. you can send money to anyone, even if they have NO paypal account.. But you do need to set up an account to receive the money, or have it transferred to a bank account of your choosing..

Are you 100% sure this wasn’t a scam? I don’t think there is a fee if you transfer the money into your checking account. However, if the money came from your credit card, and now you have cash, that might be considered a cash advance from your credit card, and that money is handled differently.

You can transfer money in and out of your acct with no fee. However just like any credit card company, they do charge a fee from the sellor when you make a purchase. Last I checked it was 3%
So if you buy a product for $50.. the sellor gets hit for 3%. Just like ant credit card company.
So if you buy something from a buddy for $100.00 send him $103 and it will maintain the friendship.....
Maybe I just got lucky.. But both my end of world experiences with paypal where resolved quickly, and I was quite impressed, when compared to a lot of other customer service experiences.
Both times they were handled very professionally.. And they spoke perfect American english.. (if you know what I mean)...
Maybe they have a reputation for being anti gun, but then so does AT&T, verizon, MMRP, not to mention the real credit card companies and big banks which will no longer finance firearms companies...... or oil for that matter...

My experience with Paypal left a bad taste in my mouth and will have nothing else to do with them. As far as we were able to investigate, Paypal accounts are handled through a bank in Florida. They set up your account without your consent or knowledge. When I caught them at this, they finally acquiesced but then set up a account for Nita. Some charge for $314 kept appearing and it took awhile for us to clear up the whole matter.

If you want to buy stuff from most individuals and many companies on the internet then you are going to have to use PayPal. Most individuals selling stuff can't take Credit Cards for obvious reasons and Pay Pal protects them. Besides who want to wait two weeks for a check to clear. I have also noticed that some companies (in China for instance) will only accept PayPal and when you pay by Credit Card it goes through a PayPal account.

FWIW, I recently renewed my membership in FPC (Firearms Policy Coalition) which is a pretty busy 2A organization. PP was kind enough to take my money and get it to them! FPC stumbled on getting things done quickly, but that was internal. It wasn't my, nor PP's, fault.
I've only had to request one refund from PP, and that was after I'd gone thru the eBay process to cancel a sale, so maybe they'd already done the heavy lifting. What I saw went smoothly, and quickly. I left the money "with them" (in my PP account) as I was using them frequently at the time. Dunno how it works if you want the money in your hand.

I had a similar incent where the seller did not refund through PAYPAL, he gets charged a fee so he put it into mu PAYPAL account. I asked for a check and finally found out the had to have my mailing address to mail a check BUT PAYPAL charges $1.50 to mail a check.
A merchant is supposed to credit back to the card used no other form of refund.
