I went into an IHOP awhile back and I was wearing my baseball cap that says, "Veteran Under Medication For Your Protection". A gentleman on his way out with his family stopped me and said, "Thank you for your service. Enjoy your breakfast." He reached out as to shake my hand and as I did too, he pressed a $20 bill in my hand. I was so surprised, before I could turn and thank him, he was out the door.
When my fiancee and I were leaving, we passed a gentleman who was a veteran, according to his cap. I told him, "Thank you for your service and enjoy your breakfast." and passed on the $20 that had been given to me. It left him speechless.
I was made to feel very good that day and I am sure the vet who I passed on the $20 did too.
I encourage others to do the same. It doesn't have to be a $20 bill, but a good deed for others. Try it and see how it makes you feel. Do it often and you may get that good feeling for a lot longer period of time.

Thankyou @KIR for your service. Well played generosity for sure.

I’m curious about the hat though. Is it a joke?
Who endorsed that message?

You are telling the world being on your meds is the only reason you aren’t killing us? I certainly hope that is not the case.

I’m not a vet, so thank you for your service. Around here I don’t see many people wearing hats or clothing to identify them as vets. But some of ya’ll mention it a lot, so perhaps it’s regional? Or it might be an age thing? There aren’t a lot of retired people around my neighborhood….hmmm.

But pay it forward? It’s been extremely hot here the past 10 days or so. The other morning I gave the guy on the corner $10 and told him I hope he stays cool today.

I know some of those guys conspire in some sort of group, but this guy looked genuine. It was at an underpass and he had his tent and all his belongings with him.

I bought my cap at some sort of convention at the then John Ascuaga's Sparks Nugget in Sparks, Nevada about a decade ago. It was for Vets and they were showing what services were available for Vets. They were also selling many items for Vets, Wounded Warriors, etc. Yes the cap is a joke. I get lots of smiles from people after they read it. I am not aware of anyone taking it seriously.
