For me, yes we should spring forward tomorrow and leave it that way.

Musk asked in a post Wednesday, "If daylight savings [sic] time is canceled, do you prefer" an hour earlier or an hour later.

About 58% of respondents said an hour later, while nearly 42% said an hour earlier, with more than 1.2 million users having voted as of Thursday morning. That implies respondents would prefer permanent DST to remaining on standard time year-round.

I fail to understand why people have so much hatred toward changing the clocks. One hour of sleep is a non-event. In the summer we get an extra hour of daylight to play softball or do yardwork. In the winter, the sun comes up earlier so we're not driving to work in the pitch black.

I think that people just hate it because it is fashionable to hate it just as it was fashionable to hate disco.

Time is a totally human construct. We could break a day down into whatever segments we want, start and stop them any time we want. It is going to change the movement of the planets rotation or its orbit around the sun.

Maybe I'm just oblivious but for me a sundial to tell the time would be just fine. At least with a sundial midday is always midday.

Oh, and try telling direction with a digital watch no matter how accurate it is.

I find the biggest arguments for, or against seem to be from areas that aren't as affected as much as others.

Northern latitudes and edges of time zones it makes a huge difference. I happen to be blessed with both issues. Being in a northern latitude and on the edge of EST. Our summer days run from about 5:30 to 10:00. When winter comes it's about 6:30 to 5.

I know it's no Alaska difference, but I'll bet it's double Arizona or Florida.

Looked up my data
June 21 4:56 - 10:13 -> 17 hours daylight
Dec 21 7:58 - 5:03 -> 9 hours daylight

I realize the amount of daylight has nothing to do with DST, but summer days starting at 4 would stink and I like long summer nights.

Not certain, but I believe takes an act of Congress and not just Elon Musk to change DST. But believe what you want.

I don't hate DST but honestly could care less.

It's just silly that everyone complains about the time change the week before and then after….dootzie until the next time change.

I'm out of town on vacation and have not been too in touch with the real world.... I usually have been getting up at around 6:00 but I "over slept this morning and my 7:00 alarm just went off and I got up.... for the previous week the sun has been coming up at around 6:30 and I look out and it is still dark, what the heck, is it that cloudy out? And I'm thinking, maybe the time changed, but it seems a little early in the Spring to me.... I guess y'all answered my question.

My vote is we keep EST (on the east coast) year round.... that is 5 hours behind Greenwich Mean time and makes it much easier if you are trying to figure out where you are by the stars.

Well, my Apple Watch does have a compass app installed…
Having said that, in a SHTF scenario where we go back to the Stone Age I have plenty of analog watches including my dad’s old Hamilton military watch… I’m teaching the grandkids how to read analog time and gifting them a wind-up watch as they reach an age where they’ll take care of it. I’m also teaching them how to read my grandfather’s old barometer.

Changing the clocks is a PITA. Despite a number of clocks that receive a wireless signal, like the laptop that I am typing on right now, and do not need a manual adjustment, I just finished changing all of the clocks in my home that needed to be changed. Four in the kitchen alone, five more on walls where I need a 6 foot ladder to safely get them, plus the thermostat, the water softener, and one of my three cars. I never changed the clocks on my two motorcycles in the Fall, so they are good to go right now. The only good thing about having to change the settings on the clocks is that it reminds me to put a fresh battery in every clock. I could not care less whether we stayed year round on Standard time or Daylight Saving time, but just no longer had to make the changes twice a year.

I was aware that I had to "Spring Forward" all the clocks last night. But I didn't realize I forgot until nothing on my cable TV guide matched up with what I was watching this morning. :confused:

Sounds like some people have a lot of clocks.

We have oven and microwave to set.

Laptops, tablets, watches, and phones all set themselves.

I got a nice walk in this evening while it was still light out. Although the setting sun was in my eyes a bit, it was better than walking in the dark. I am a fan of the later sunsets even if it takes a week or so to reset my body clock.

I think I have realized that it's not necessarily the time change that I hate, but winter. I do like long summer days. I think if I had to choose I would pick dst all year, but overall I guess it doesn't really matter. I've complained about the time change before but in the big scheme things, it's a minor inconvenience.

I think you mean you could NOT care less. And I complain all winter when the golf course closes at 5:00 but we play until 9:00 in the summer.
"could NOT care less" is the use of a double negative and according to Mrs. Little in my Senior English Class is to be avoided. "could care less" is a phrase denoting a "negative". I truly hated English classes in High School but I did listen to the "elitist teachers".

BTW I woke up by the clock an hour late this morning. My body hasn't made the adjustment yet.
