I took out my new to me P90 ( stainless , DC , 1992 mfg) for it's initial shakedown/ reliability test.
Over the course of aprox 250 rds , had a cpl issues:
With RP 230 fmj had two incomplete battery , tapped back of slide and fully chambered. Again one more time with fmj round escapes my memory.
One round of TULA had visably semi-light strike , fired on second attempt. It's tempting to blame the ammo , but in light of the above , I have to scrath my head if it might have been just a slightest bit not fully in battery , and part of hammer energy pushed it rest of the way.
With WWB 230 JHP , when feeding top round by releasing the slide stop , the round went stright into feed ramp and everything stopped there. Did it with 8rds in mag , and 7 , and 6 . I then slingshot the slide , and it feed. NO it is not acceptable to me to just slingshot instead of releasing. I have nearly 30yrs of muscle memory of hitting slide stops ( yes my thumb is long enough to reach , yes I do it subconscously ) . And besides it works with three fmj rns , and a flat nose. The JHPs feed and cycled fine while actually shooting.
When I was giving it a casual clean and lube (RemOil happened to first at hand) , I noticed the recoil spring looked a bit "well broken in ", but went ahead with it for initial session.
I have put in an order to Midway for Wolfe springs in 11lb and 13lb.
I also ordered two factory 8rd mags. (Only came to me w/ one fact 8rd mag.
Is there anything else P90 specific I'm overlooking?
I read that early P90s had 7rd mags , and that 8rds came later. In 1911s I despise 8rd mags , and will only use 7 rds. Should I hunt out Ruger 7rd mags / followers ?
