Today, I traded some guns for some guns........... I received as part of the trade a boxed, but used KP90DC 45acp. Serial number dates to 1997. I'm not a particular fan of the P-series pistols and would like to know a general value. It is in good, lightly used condition. Comes with the box numbered to the gun and 2 mags along with the mag loading assist tool. No instructions. I figure I am into it about $250. I will shoot it for function, and if I don't like it, will probably sell it. Just wanted to know what a fair market value would be. Thanks for your assistance. :D Dave

You should be able to make $100.00.

Bought mine in 07-2011 for $360.00 out the door. I have it logged in my records as 98% condition with box and papers, 2 mags, mag loader, etc.
RENE dates mine to 2005.

Hittman, how do you like it? Accurate? Is it finicky about ammo, particularily defense loads? As I said, I am not much of a P series fan, but willing to give it a fair chance to like me...... Dave

Hi Dave.

I really like the KP90DC as does my 21 year old son (a CJ major and soon to be LEO) and a friend of his that frequents the range with us.

I'm not into ballistics or competition shooting. We kill the heck out of paper plates, old tin cans and bottles at 7, 10 and 20 yards though.

We find it to be very accurate .... on par with the P95DC Revhigh turned me onto when CDNN was closing them out for under $300.00. Mine came with the Hogue "finger groove" grips as well as the factory originals and I've never taken the Hogues off.

Only ammo it's seen is Federal, Remington and mild re-loads a local friend does for me. Can't recall that this KP90 has EVER had a fail to fire, feed, eject, etc. This is my favorite .45ACP but know I've only got 3; this KP90, a G30 and a RIA basic Milspec 1911. I consider it to be 100% reliable and would have no problem trusting my life with it.

I think if you check with Revhigh he will agree the 2 best P-Series are the P95 and P90.

Good luck to you. Hope you enjoy it!

Mine has been reliable with every type of ammo I put in it. I mostly shoot 230gr. stuff. The various brands of FMJ that I've used are too numerous to list, but they include just about every American manufacturer as well as some Russian and European loads too.

The hollow points I have used include Remington Golden Saber, Speer Gold Dot, Federal HST and Hornady XTP. All were 230gr. and all fed reliably.

I'm not a great shooter, but the gun is capable of more than just "combat accuracy", when I do my part.

You shouldn't have too much trouble getting $350 for a KP90 in the condition you described,IMHO

Btw, I too, prefer the Hogue's with the finger grooves for this particular gun.

There is (or was) one in a local pawn for $300. He would take $275. It was blue with box, 2 mags, and paperwork. Looks to have been shot little but sat around. Very light freckling on slide but not horrible.

One more thing while I'm thinking of it. If your magazines use the metal followers, they will put a little gouge in the frame right under the feed ramp.

This is only cosmetic and doesn't effect the function of the gun, but some people switch to the older style plastic followers to prevent this from happening.

Here is a thread regarding the magazine conversion kits that are available

This one has plastic followers in both mags and the extra one I found in my drawer is plastic as well......... Dave

Sounds good. I just couldn't remember what year they switched to the metal followers. Anyway, I'm sure you will be happy with it. Let us know how it shoots. :)

one of the best shooters i have come across, mine eats everything.........try it and see if ya like it. it is on the heavy side for carry and if ya don't have a use for it i'd be more then happy to take it off yer hands as would many here.

There has to be sacrifices for anything worthwhile. The P90 is a little big and heavy. The big part helps on Accuracy, and the heavy helps on recoil. They are very accurate and dependable. That is the reason I choose mine over the smaller and lighter pistols for a CCW. I know that I can hit what I shoot at, and that it will shoot, if I need it. That more that offsets the size and weight in my opinion. :D
