I bought my first handgun- a P-95- in October. Every time I shoot it (I did today) I am more sure that I bought the absolute right gun for me. It is dead-reliable, feels right in my hand, and I am even hitting most of what I shoot at!!

Last week I bought a S&W 22- and I was surprised at how much better the Ruger (at less money) is made than the S&W. Now I see Ruger is coming out with a 22 semi auto- and I regret buying the S&W. I'll bet the Ruger is better.

For the price point I don't think you can beat the 95. they're great.

Welcome too.

Welcome to the forum, you kind of missed it on the above comment.... don't know how to say it other than that Ruger has been making a 22 semi-auto for something like 60+ years.

The P95 is the result of a lot of development.... kind of the top of the P series. I know the big thing now is the striker fired glock wanna be weird trigger thingys.... but for me the P95, specifically the decock model, is the ultimate.

I was referring to the NEW SR22. The S&W MP22 is what I bought.

I have had a lot of semi auto's thru the years and still find myself, favoring the P-95 above all others.

I like mine so much I went out and bought a second one.

I have 1300 rounds loaded up and just waiting for better weather. :D

I bought my 5th P95 last week. The best value in handguns IMHO. I gave one to my son for a truck gun, sold a couple to people at work but always keep a couple around. I have a pretty good stack of mags for them too.

You Sir are a P-nut! (like me)

Guilty as charged. I also have a P94 like new that I found at Bud's. I did have a P89 and P345. The P345 would be my ccw gun if it were not for the LCI and mag disconnect. Otherwise a great gun. I had one of the early ones without the rail, I wish I had kept it too just cause.

I bought the wife a P95 for Christmas. She has put over 1,000 rounds of FMJ and HP without a single failure. She's new to semi autos so we've started from scratch about the workings. She's got the basics down but I've had to resort to sabotage in order to get a stoppage. I had to deform a snap cap to get a failure to feed. Being able to clear a jam is becoming second nature now. The damn thing just keeps shooting and shooting

I'm becoming equally fond of my P95, 550 rounds through it so far and not a single failure, and 500 of those rounds were stupid-cheap Independence rounds that I fully expected to be a pain in the rear. Not getting much practice at clearing malfunctions with this thing! Which is ok with me, got my share of that with M16's and M4's while in the service. Just picked up some snap caps today, going to try the same thing Brasstacks did and try to force a malfunction out of it so I can practice some.

Anyone know why the P95 is so stupidly accurate for having such a short barrel? Made some adjustments to my trigger squeeze and form, and now my groups are half the size of what they were a month ago.

lol Have the same problem, but different model Ruger. Being my first gun I spoke to my ccw instructor about the fact that I haven't been able to practice any clearance drills because my firearms not do so yet it 500 rounds. I almost wanted it too!

He suggested having a friend load 2-3 empty brass casings into the mag at random intervals. With a 15 round mag that's about 1 in every 5 shots failing or so and very good practice I found! Its always the same failure for me, but its better then nothing.

I like my P89 a little better then the P95 I used to own simply because of the replaceable grips. I know Ruger is too busy with development and production of newer firearms in their line, but if they put the checkering from the P345 and applied it to the P95 side panels and maybe even a strip on the front and back strap, people may purchase them even more then they do now.

I don't care for grip sleeves on guns since it makes them feel less solid in the hand and makes them bulkier then they need to be. If a decent checkering was applied to the P95, I'd run right out and add one back into my collection.

ETA: I know there is stippling but I'd rather not destroy any of the gun's value and the possibility I may have to send it in one day for a warranty repair and be denied. If I can't put a gun back to stock configuration, I'd rather not modify it.

I picked up a used 95 that had skate board tape on the front strap. Just a little strip vertically. At first I was pissed the guy didn't tell me it was on there and then it grew on me and like you say if I want it stock I simply remove it.

I have found one and only one of the Uncle Mikes grip sleeves. These are real thin and have checkering like the older uncle mike grips you could get for the 89. I don't know why they don't still make them or maybe they do and I just can find them where I look.

I love my P95!! I hope Ruger continues to produce it.

+1 That is why I bought another one, just in case they stop making them.

Me too. I have two unfired in the safe along with a dozen or so mags for future use. If I find another good deal on one I'll buy it too!

I bought my P95 used about a year and a half ago and I think it will outlast me. As everyone knows, its a tank. I don't think I would ever need to buy extras to layaway for the future. LOL

A friend at work asked me what he should buy for a first gun. I said a Ruger P95 and that he could find a used one cheap. He said no I don't want a used gun and I said don't worry most used P95s will out last both of us.

I've never had a problem selling one. They have a great reputation for reliability and value so they pretty much sell themselves. Besides they shoot well, mags are reasonably cheap and available. I sold one a few years ago to a guy at work who said he had nearly given up on auto,s due to feeding issues?? Now, his prior choices of little mouse gun .25's were not impressive in the first place, but I convinced him the Ruger would not stumble. It hasn't and he loves it. He's basically a one or two gun guy anyway who is happy now and doesn't ridicule auto's even though the ones he had before were junk. I sold him a Single six a year or so later and he is convinced that Ruger is the only way to go. Works for me.
