Trying to date an older .22 6 1/2" Six. No transfer bar, serial # 321XXX
Rubber grips with Black medallion,(may have been changed).

The Ruger site doesn't list the year and I can't call until Wed. Thanks for any help...

Shouldn't that be a .22 magnum with a 3xxxxx serial number?

Yes, that's correct. S/N 300000 to 342450 were 6-1/2" barreled .22 magnums. Many were also Factory fitted with an additional cylinder chambered in .22 Long Rifle.

The "mag only" guns were cataloged RSSM and the two cylindered examples were cataloged as the RSSMX. During the less than 4 years of production the varnished walnut grips were introduced as an option. That model was the RSSMW.

The "Magnum Only" model was dropped and the RSSM catalog number was used to describe a 6-1/2" barreled Single-Six (or RSSMX for a convertible) until the demise of the Old Models.

Above is the RSSMW, a .22 Mag "only" with the varnished walnut grips. IIRC, some of the RSSMW boxes would have a small "With Walnut Grips" sticker placed on the shown end.
