Older LCR

I picked-up this used 2010 LCR in .38 Spl. today for $349. They had another used but newer one for over $400, and a S&W 638 for $399. I figured the LCR was the better deal. I've been kind of collecting snubbies I don't currently have in my collection when I see them used at local shops. I didn't have an LCR in .38, so I figured I'd grab this one. Based on my research, I guess the originals came with the matte stainless cylinders. The black cylinders didn't come out until 2012 or so. I kind of like this two-tone finish.

I probably would have picked-up the S&W 638, but I scored a 1990 stainless Mini-14 for $550 instead. I'll probably get the 638 eventually if it's still there.

Nice revolver... I have the .357 LCR and usually shoot .38 Specials. That one was a better buy than the Smith, Good job!

I've owned and/or shot both the Smith and the LCR. The Smith is far more eye-appealing, but my LCR is nicer to shoot.

Not sure if they offer the Hi-viz from the factory, but I picked one up off Amazon a few months back for my LCR in 9mm. And I think they sell them through the Ruger store.

I bought the one with the hammer, new for $419 in 2010ish. Still have it. So easy to tuck in the belt, mexican style, or drop in a coat pocket.

Stay away from the +P stuff...

I sure wish I had a chance to pick up a 638 for $399. Or even $499.

Both my LCR are earlier versions with the matte stainless cylinders. I think that they look better even though the LCR is a homely snubbie in the first place.

It's a 638-3 newer production w/lock. $399 seems to be the going rate at that shop for newer production S&W air weights. I did pull this clean 1986 model 36 out of there recently for $375.

Went back for the 638 today but it was gone. So was the $399 Chinese SKS I was kind of interested in. Oh well.
