I was browsing through some old vacation photos and came across this one:

MEXICAN DONKEY RENTAL AGENCY



This about 1993 or so. We, Nita and I, had driven down the road to Boquillas Crossing on the Rio Grande. We hid our car in some mesquite thicket, paid a Mexican $2.00 to guard it, and took the row boat across into Mexico. On the other side we went to this donkey rental agency and rented a couple of donkeys to ride into town.

The good thing was you made it back across the Rio Grande alive. Stay away from Lake Falfurias, dangerous area.

You don't cross the river there these days. And best not try. Nita's late cousin used to go duck hunting down in Mexico until the guides told them not to come. Seems the Mexican bandits are killing hunters for their shotguns.

A couple of friends of mine were in Aquascalientes, Mexico, until it got unsafe for them to be there. Headless bodies were showing up on folk's lawns in the morning.
