NRA Upgrade

Well, the NRA made me an offer that I couldn't refuse. Upgrade from Life Endowment to Life Patron for $300. I thought about it for a couple days, figured I had the money to do it (I had already sent the money for my ROCS Bearcat) so I did.

Now I just have to save my pennies for the Friends of NRA local banquet and the FoNRA Ruger Vaquero auction. I got the FoNRA GP100 last year, so I might as well try for the Vaquero this year. (ROCS guys who know me - my SA Ruger count is now at 6, 7 when the Bearcat arrives, 8 if I get the Vaquero )

I understand Ron ...... heck, I bought a couple of single actions last year myself. And last weekend saw me pick up a super-nice Smith 28 ..... still in it's numbers matching box!

I also took that deal and went up to Benefactor. Got a nice jacket freebie too. Still have some pennies so I'm looking to replace my S&W 60 I sold to a friend that "needed" it last year.

I'm an NRA Life member. Did this several years ago. But I'm tired of their compromises. I'm done sending them money. I really wonder if they even understand what the Second Amendment is all about...I think they must believe it's about hunting, sport shooting, collecting, self defense and the like. I never hear the real reason.

Thus I'm now a life member of Gun Owner's of America. And I keep sending them money because they understand.

Not saying the NRA does not and has not done some good stuff, they certainly have. When the NRA puts the real reason for the Second Amendment at the top of their list of reasons, I'll certainly get them some more money. Until then, it's all going to G.O.A.

I just don't compromise on the 2nd., but hey, that's just me.

That's how I went from Life member in 1977 through the different NRA levels to finally Benefactor Member in March of 2013. I'd wait until I got offered reduced rates from the NRA.
