I don't keep up with who is or isn't doing a good job of promoting gun ownership and such. Anyone feel like giving me some pointers on who may be the best 5 candidates?

I think we get to vote on 25 at a time. I'll get into it & see what I know. It may take a few days.
Frank Tait from PA is hell on wheels about the NRA being more transparent with their internal policies. I don't think he is on any of the "nominating committees" lists of "preferred" people to vote for. That might tell you something.
We can vote for 31 of the candidates. Out of those they will pick the top 25. Read the biography’s. I am impressed with the depth of knowledge the group brings to the Board!

As far as I know you can vote for up to 31 candidates. I do not believe you have to vote for that many, however . . . they just add up the votes.
This year, I only voted for fifteen, and none was an incumbent. It's time for some fresh blood.

I am loosing my confidence in the NRA. Note loosing not lost. My concern is the shroud of secrecy that covers the inner workings. And the board nominated people vs the rank and file. Those that care enough to look into it know I have been life for fifty plus years. I think this earns me the right to Say I am concerned
Why in the world do 'we' need 25 or more directors on the board... what is that all about? Do they actually do anything?

I can see that a larger number of directors reduces the chances that a few may be influenced or run their own agenda. I don't understand why I should shotgun vote for the entire list when only a few have the same ideas I do. I used to have a strange set of parameters for voting. Generally military experience, business experience, apolitical, not a doctor/lawyer/banker, and not from either coast. This criteria really didn't address the actual capabilities but it did cut down on the selection.

I personally know 2 board members. Both are not "famous" or whatever. Just hard working, freedom fighters. One of those,, Walt Walter of Flat Rock NC was at my FoNRA event this past Friday. Just like he has been attending as long as I can remember.
Approachable, willing to discuss ANYTHING about the NRA, and will listen as well.

for me - Frank Tate is not one that I would vote for. He, Ron Carter, and Rob Pincus have created Save the Second.
again for me - to effect change, you cannot and should not alienate everyone that is already in the room. Not saying you have to roll, but you do have to build a team that sees things your way. They are not doing that - in my opinion.
I voted for Charles Cotton - because he listens. Linda Walker - because she is involved heavily in her state first. Barb Rumple - because she has spent the last 5 years working and walking the hill with the DCProject ( check them out - awesome group). Rick Figerlla ( or some spelling) texas guy who has some good ideas, is new, and is teambuilding to make changes. Graham Hill - he is in Congress and is working the committees for NRA & Veterans.
So that is my vote - not that it means much, but maybe...

Last year I asked the same general question as the OP and don't recall getting a single recommendation, though I may have gotten one. This year I just looked at the ballot and tossed it like every year. It sure would be nice to have an idea of who's who. The NRA needs some new dedicated men and women.

Barb Rumple, Rick Figerrola ( or however you spell it) are two.
Charles Cotton, Senator Graham Hill and Linda Walker have been on the board. these are out of the ones that i recommended.
