At least thru their wireless network.
My wife had a knee replacement today at the hospital.
My phone auto linked with their network when we arrived. Later, while there, I tried to get on the Forum I was blocked out. So was Ruger.com, Gunbroker and probally all the other URL's that were weapon related.
My daughter said to switch off the network link and just go cellular.
Yep, all was right with the world again. Their network, their rules, I guess.
But I don't have to like it.
And the wife is doing well.

Good she is doing well!

If you have unlimited data then things are fine. If not, charge them for
your data use. They have a wifi, you should be able to use it since they
are making a boat-load of money off you. :D

I'm glad to hear the knee replacement proceeded well. Let me know if you need some pointers.

The hospitals I've been at over the last couple years...Some block anything firearm related, and some block only certain sites. When I have to spend any time in a hospital, thank heavens for 3G/4G.

Further, I was in a restaurant recently that their wifi blocked gun forums. I said I'll never be back, but I don't remember what restaurant it was. :?

I think it was Denny's and I was with you. :!:

I run into the same thing at dialysis, no firearms related web sites, but I can view firearms related stuff on a utube and every once in a while I sneak in sigforum for a short while. Oh well it's their network.

Everybody knows, if you think you see a Boogeyman, and you close your eyes, the Boogeyman goes away...

A couple years ago during the powder "shortage", I was in a Mills Fleet Farm looking at a very small powder selection. I wasn't sure which if any fit my needs so I asked the clerk if he had any charts or information that might help me out. Keep in mind that "Mills" sells a lot of firearms and related products. He suggested that if I had a smartphone I could check for myself since all firearms related sites were blocked from the store's computer.

It seems that many, if not most health related facilities use similar blocking software for the public wifi systems. I have run into the same restrictions at doctor's offices, labs as well as hospitals. I have found that these software blocks are not always as complete as the facility thinks. I once found that while I could not reach rugerforum I was able to get to glocktalk. Normally I just use the cellular connection and use my own data allowance, as long as I can get a decent cellular signal in that part of their building.

I fully agree with the statement; "Their wifi, their rules."

However,, if you are their "customer" in any form,, then you have the right to express your opinion, and if possible,, not go into their "business" again. A formal complaint letter to the hospital administrator, copied to the board of directors, and as many related places you can the have an "interest" in things may help stop this stupidity.

For too many years,, between the media, movies, liberals, etc demonizing guns & their owners, (unless they are the good guys,) we have become the "enemy" to them. If enough of us POLITELY express our thoughts & feelings in an intelligent manner,,, quite often things can change.

Example; A single business owner,,, who posts his public entrance against CCW. When polite & educated gun owners point out to them,, the legalities they may face if they do not provide adequate security for you & all their patrons,,, often they remove the signs. When shown that a CCW holder is a law abiding citizen, who has gone through a lengthy process to be allowed to carry CCW,,, is a better type of customer than the thugs who ignore the law & are often the criminal element they do not need in their business.
When presented with facts,,, in a very educated & POLITE manner,,, often they may re-think their policy of no CCW.

Now,, multiply it by many, many people entering a much bigger business,,, who politely complain, AND point out the many lawsuits they could face if they fail to allow you your legal right to self defense,, it can possibly make many re-think their position.

We have to fight,, in an educated manner,,, with facts & not emotions. That is the only way we can make a real difference.

I myself, often compliment business managers or owners when I do not see a "No CCW" sign on their doors. And if I happen to NEED something a business offers,,, and it's the only available place,,, I seek out the management, and politely, directly complain. I also express how I will be sure to let as many people know about their policy as I can.

In business,,, word of mouth,, combined with social media can & does have an impact.

I was halfway expecting it when I was going to the Cancer treatment center of America in Newnan, Georgia. Happily, I was wrong...... but then again, it was Georgia......

yeah - good luck with that !

I have done all that Contender mentioned at multiple hospitals, eatery's to NO AVAIL. I SIMPLY DONT GO BACK. I used to give cards saying no gun=no money. A waste of time and breath. Taco Bell blocks gun forums. I used to eat several times a week. I go maybe once a month. Then I use my data to access Ruger forum. Ha! Take that TB!

OMG!!! You can't reach a gun forum for an hour! How devastating! What did you do before you had the &%(#^@! phone?

I take the latest issue of American Rifleman with me, read it, and leave it with the stacks of Woman's Day and People.

Ha! That's what I do!

I used to work at a hospital and anything firearms related was blocked...kind of. If it didn't have certain keywords in the website title then you could still get it. Ruger forum, of course, was blocked, as were any others with such obvious gun references, but something like (for a hypothetical example) "Joe's outdoors forum" that would be 90% about hunting was allowed because there was no gun reference in the website title.

I run into this occasionally at fast food places. However when I google "abortion services"--no problem...

About a year ago I stayed at a nice little motel in CO; their wifi blocked gun sites as mentioned above. I mentioned it to the owners, who didn't know that their provider was doing that. They got on the horn, told their provider that they agreed with me that those sites should not be blocked at their place of business, and about an hour later they were suddenly available. Mom and pop operations are more liable to respond than corporate franchises.
