New P95

Picked up a new P95 the other day and having a few problems out of the box. Without an initial cleaning I fired about 100 rounds at the range and had a feed jam on almost every other clip. It appears the elbow of the L shape of the ejector somehow blocks the slide and prevents it from coming forward. Removing the clip frees the jam. I can sometimes recreate the jam by manually jacking the slide but I cant figure how it gets shifted to the side enough to block the slide.
I plan on a good cleaning and oiling then another range visit.

Your thoughts? Break in or grease problem? Much more serious?

I bet this is the problem. Clean it good. Oil it "VERY" lightly along the slide. Then go back to the range. Also watch for Limp Wristing...as I have never had a problem with my P95, but my son has a Failure to feed / eject with a weak grip every once in a while.

As said always do a good cleaning prior to range and allow at least 500 rounds for break in

IF the problem continues, THEN contact Ruger

IN this picture you can see how the ejector is pushed to the side by the top round in the magazine. It sounds like your ejector is binding against the side of the breach face. I had this problem. I filed on the slide where it was binding until I could hand cycle rouns without it binding and problem was fixed. I'm sure if you send it to Ruger they would do the same thing.
My gun was looked up pretty tight. Being as yours is only doing it once in a while might not be all that bad. Hell, you might be limpwristing or the gun was just dirty. Whenever I read a post where it sounds like someone is having a problem similar to the one I had I throw out my story just in case it helps. Good luck

Great pic! That is exactly the problem. Cleaned and oiled last night but I can still reproduce the jam by jacking a few rounds thru. Seeing a very small (pinhead) amount of shiny metal damage on the heel of the ejector. Ill give it a few more rounds and then call Ruger for advice. I can live without it for a couple of weeks. Dont want to void whatever warranty I may have.

I AM impressed with the gun otherwise. Very solid, accurate and fun to shoot.

I understand your warranty concern. I believe the manual has a picture of a file and hammer with a No symbol over it. I think Ruger is more worried about someone doing a "custom" trigger job or something. There's one guy on this forum who actually cut a loaded chamber hole in the barrel hood(like an M&P) It took me a couple of minutes to fix my gun as opposed to shipping it to AZ so Ruger could do the exact same thing. You should give it a try. On my gun you can't see file marks anyways. Good luck. P95 is a great gun.

I'd send it to Ruger and let them take care of it.... I believe, more often than not they will check every thing out at the same time and make sure it is up to specs... and at least in theory you will get back a top of the line almost customized pistol.

biggest 'problem' I've heard with sending a gun back to the factory is that if it has modified or after market parts.... it won't when you get it back... everything is returned to factory.

Well, couldn't stand the suspense last night and just "showed" it the file. Made a very noticable difference right away....cycled five full clips without a hitch where as I would usually catch once every 10 or 15 rounds. Ill be hitting the range this weekend for a real test. Thanks again for the tip.

Had the same problem when I first got my P95. I did some filing until the slide didn't get hung up any more.

Well, that's at least three guys who have had to file on slide of p95 so ejector didn't bind against slide. Shame shame Ruger. :)

Yeah, if you look very closely at mine you can kinda see casting/stamping lines on the edges...like maybe the intention was for the ejectors to pass thru a buffing or polishing station before assembly but didnt make it.

I did my filing on the back of the ejector. I have a friend who bought a P95 and wanted to see what his ejector looked like. He bought his brand new and his ejector looked like someone filed it too. He didn't do it
