New RXM.

I bought my only poly striker fired handgun yesterday a new Ruger RXM model 19444.....full size / 4.5" unthreaded barrel with a black grip.

Having a fondness for 1911's and their triggers I can already tell, from just dry firing, that the striker fired trigger is really going to take some getting used to.

The RXM and tax ran $454.56 OTD at the local Academy in town.

The RXM is about the only "new" pistol I might be interested in. Let us know how you like it.

Trigger tip: When firing NO NEED TO RELASE TRIGGER FULLY between shots. That's a waste of time. Practice dry firing a little before the range.
1st shot Squeeze trigger through the safety release until gun firing pin releases (gun fired dry). Release trigger pressure until you feel the safety reset. The trigger can go further, but don't let it. Start your next shot with the trigger there by squeezing again. Of course, dry firing you need to rack the slide. Many people shoot Glocks by releasing the trigger fully and going through a lot of trigger pull that's not needed.
Doing it the correct way, as I descripted is more like a single stage semi auto trigger pull.

I enjoy mine, although I admit that I haven't shot it a great deal yet. Been nursing a reverse shoulder replacement, and now it's going to have to be redone. My dominant arm, naturally. Anyhow, I am trying to resist the temptation to treat it like a Barbie doll, like many seem to do. I have swapped a couple of parts - extended mag catch, a threaded barrel, and a different recoil spring assembly. The Ruger recoil spring assembly just seems like a toy to me, so I replaced it with stainless steel. The pistol is accurate, and has performed without any malfunctions to date. I think that Ruger got it mostly right with this one.

Mine's been flawless with over 500 rounds of low to midrange price ammo.
Accuracy wise (benched) it prefers 115's over 124's.
Accurate and shootable enough to be hell on the local jackrabbit and tin can population.

I prefer the grip angle and thinness to the Glock 19. Been a Glock armorer since 1990. The RXM, is the Glock I always wanted Glock to build. Mine is my carry gun.

Got mine yesterday and put 232 rounds through it is morning (about 14 or 15 JHP and the rest FMJ) no feed issues, is there such a thing with a Ruger? I used Glock 17 round magazines I have (they fit my PCC) with no issue magazine issues I could hit an 8.5x11 piece of paper with no issue, which has not been as true with my Max-9; the max-9 was never intended as a primary carry gun, more of a I really do not want to carry a gun in the waist band and as a bug (Just I Case Gun). It shoots like my P89 with a heck of a lot less weight!! Next range time I think I will shoot at a 4.25x2.75 (aka a 8.5x11 quartered).

I liked mine so well I bought another. Yeah, the trigger will never be as good as a 1911s, but that's the nature of the beast.
