The article is saying that many law enforcement agencies are using it both federal, state and local.... then again I finding it hard to say it is an invasion of privacy since the data base it uses had collected its information from places like facebook where people post their profile picture... or ... even here... look to the left....

Most assuredly, I didn't take it as an endorsement gramps. That sort of thing is a bit scary. Why would anyone want "tagged" by a phone call?
Our agency provided business cards have changed significantly over the past 2-3 years. No more home phone or location unless the employee specifically asked for those to be on the card. Name and work cell phone number is the only information most folks want on the card. The rest is agency name, logo, and phone.

Drivers licenses are a big data base for facial recognition! When I gave my permission for my photo to be on the DL, this technology didn’t exist! I refuse to use it on my cell phone.

I've read reports about that in China, such as depending upon what you post is how you are treated in the country. If you post a lot of negative stuff on the internet, you will be not treated as nice, for example having to wait longer for an appointment in a gov't office (i.e. doctor) , or say building permit or business license. On the other hand, if you post positive, "Pro-China" messages you will get better treatment. I don't know all the details, but it sounds scary.

Even this, the facial recognition is scary. A lot of it is FaceBook's fault. No, it's the users on Facebook. They post a picture and then tag the people by name in the picture.

The series "Black Mirror" on Netflix, is a scary look into the future of technology.

My wife's parents in Bulgaria still need a visa to come here to visit. They've had on in the past, they are good for 10 years. They just renewed it again, and for the first time, the US wants to know what social media they have accounts as part of the background check.

My laptop has facial recognition. I just click it on and don't have to type in a password. If someone else tries to use it the computer won't turn on.

Speaking of Drivers Licenses.... when I voted a few weeks ago when I gave them my D.L. for I.D. all the person did was scan the back of it...did not look at the front.

There is a good side to a technological advance. The good side is that law enforcement can pick out criminals. The bad side is a rapist can be more selective on his next victim or an abusive spouse can find the address of his or her X.
