Quick question for you folks.....Looking at a MarkII with ten inch barrel in stainless.
Did these come from the factory drilled and tapped like the Comp. models for Ruger's scope mount?

Some did & some did not if my weak memory is correct.

Thanks Contender. I bought one when they were new and can't remember if they were or not.
Trying to work a trade online right now and can't get a clear answer from the seller.
His has an aftermarket mount and rings on it and he "thinks" it was factory drilled and tapped.
I only want the gun if it was originally d&t from Ruger so I can use their one piece base and Ruger rings for a scope application.

I think only the last year or two of the KMK10's were factory drilled and tapped. Same goes for all the target models except for the competition slab side which was always drilled and tapped I believe. My KMK10 is not set up for a scope base. Take a Ruger base and compare the screw spacing. Better yet get the serial number and call Ruger to see how it shipped.

What xtratoy said pretty well agrees with what I seem to recall on the KMK10s.

Thank you to all who replied.
I'm gonna pull the trigger on this deal.

To be a factory D&T the gun has to be serial numbered after 225-82223. There were probably less than 200 of each in the 10", blue and stainless.

Factory records do not show which Mark IIs were drilled and tapped. As Chet stated all D&T models will be after serial number he stated. But also boxes will be stamped with a Circled B on the label. I have a factory D&T MK10, KMK678, KMK678G and a KMK4BL. And am also looking for factory D&T models. Here's a pic of label with Circle B. And a pic of my D&T KMK678.

If you send a MKII back to Ruger will they drill and tap it for you? Any idea of the cost?

I don't think so. IIRC, all they do is repair/fix anything that is broke or not functioning correctly.

I called about a month ago and asked if they would and how much. I was told $65 (covers the D&T and shipping back). They gave me an RMA number and told me to include a check with letter and RMA number. Shipping back to Ruger at my expense. Haven't done it so far.

Good to know. The only MKII I would consider putting a scope on is my KMK10. The others I would put a Burris FastFire II or similar type Holographic sight that uses the rear sight dovetail mount. I have been looking for a reasonably priced Holographic sight with a 1 or 2 MOA dot. The only one I am familiar with that has a dot that small is Eotech and that is bigger than I want on top of a 22 pistol. I have a 30 mm Ultradot on my KMK678GC Slabside but unless I shoot it often it takes awhile to get used to the sight alignment and it has a 4 MOA dot.

Chet15,

I don't know if mine was D&T at factory but it is set up correctly for the Ruger base. Serial#225-55383.
Doesn't have any stamps on the box label.
Got the scope mounted up and it looks like it belongs there now. ;-)>
