Hey guys,

My brother called me today about a Ruger MK-II that he picked up a while back that does not fall in the serial number series listed on Ruger's site. Supposedly it might have been a government issue pistol with its own lot number and therefor not on their site?

Here is a picture and the Serial # is 210-8XXXX

Anyone have any info on these?

Thanks

According to the RENE guide, the gun was made in 1984.
In 1984 the serial number range was; 19-31711 to 19-99999. AND 210-50001 to 211-13149.
Note that the s/n range of 210-00001 to 210-50000 was was assigned to the "U.S." marked and non-"US" marked MK-678G model from 1984 through 1988.

That above info is a quote from the RENE.

And...whoever gave your brother the information that since the serial number isn't listed on Ruger's website, that it "might have been a government issue pistol with its own lot number"...well, that is "HOAKY INFORMATION".
As contender mentioned, the Government issue guns (with U.S. marking on the receiver and 6-7/8" BULL barrel) were serial numbered from 210-00001 up to the 210-19xxx range.
Then Ruger decided to offer a civilian model with 6-7/8" bull barrel which was quite successful and these completed the 210- range up to 210-50000.
