Mark III pistol

I purchased a new Mark III that is a Lipsey special. The finish doesnt appear to be blued, but instead a black matte finish. Does anyone know if it can be polished and if so how I would go about it. Thanks for any help

If it's a "special edition" from Lipseys, why change it? Often they will bring a small premium for folks who need that variation in their collection. If you want a polished look, why not sell/swap it?

It will probably stay as is and in my safe. The only difference I can see from a target model is aluminum grips and a red dot sight which I removed because I dont care for it. I wish I had posted a question on here about other guns I have altered in the past. Most of them I wish were original. Thanks for your advice,not everyone can cause me to rethink.

I have nothing against custom guns. I admire many of them. However, I'm a collector of sorts, and often see guns that have been altered in such a way as to never be able to be "original" ever again. I learned many years ago, that collectors prefer things to be as original as possible. A wise old gun collector once told me of how sad he felt everytime he saw '03 Springfields chopped up & customized. He bought as many originals as he could, and stored them away. Well, a few years back, he began selling a few of them, at a seriously good return.
So, if you have a "special" and it's not the only one you have, why alter it? Get a beater to shoot. Or use others that aren't special. In my collection, I have some safe queens and some shooters of the same models. It's easy that way. One day, maybe my family will enjoy the rewards of my collecting. And the shooters will be appreciated by those that get them as well.
