Mantis dry fire system

I've heard the ads for this dry fire system and it sound pretty interesting. But before I spend $100 for the basic system, I wondered if anyone here actually has it and what their thoughts were on its usefulness. Mantis X2 - Shooting Performance System

Nope, but I did go to the web site you linked and look at it and was going to come back and make a critical / negative comment but I'm also interested in it. Pure technology for sure and I watched the video which did not show much of how it worked and the guy doing it is obviously a techno-nerd because I did not understand half of what he said...(Think Sheldon in the Big Bang Theory) but like I first pointed out, I'm kind of interested in it too. The one problem I see is it won't work on my carry gun because it does not have a rail.

The Army has used a similar system for years. It is the multiple integrated laser engagement system, or MILES. Laser receptors on a harness. Laser attached to the rifle.

I decided to first try a laser cartridge, which I just ordered from Amazon, for only $30. I'll add a comment to this thread after I receive and try that out. If its a waste, $30 down the drain is better than $100.

I reviewed the Mantis system at the SHOT Show 2023, it does what more expensive system do for less cost. The increased trigger prep, trigger press, and result for less the cost of the ammo will offset the cost of the ammunition. One of the things I pick up on You Tube; people that always shoot from the bench are hard pressed to shoot well from an unsupported position. The bench tests the ammo, and the firearm, there is little testing of the ability of the marksman. I frequently officiate bench rest matches, little or no contact with the shooter and the firearm except triggering a 1 ounce trigger. F-class competiton is shot from the prone position with either an extremely expensive mechanical rest or a rest (some mechanical) attached to the rifle (depending on the class). F-class does require interaction/body contact between the shooter and the firearm.

I got the X10 system last March. I've shot over 13000 snaps. With my Glocks I'm shooting consistently in the 95-96 average in Open Training. Shooting in the 92-94 range in the Compressed Surprise Break. Most of the other drills I haven't used. I think it is extremely useful. At some point I will get the Mantis Academy. Hopefully Mantis will pair these two apps. Today with two devices you can run both which would be the perfect training system. If I were to do it today with my experience with Mantis I would get the basic X3 system and save $150. If I were a competitive shooter I would get the X10. I suspect the X10 Live Fire system would only work if you are shooting alone. BTW the first three months I shot the Mantis I determined most of my "issues" were not trigger press but rather grip. All kinds of grip issues that I've worked out over time. I highly recommend the Mantis system and the basic X3 will work for most folks.

The value to the Mantis is the feed back as to what needs improvement. It makes no comments as to where you are hitting. You could miss the side of a barn but do it with great trigger and grip technique. The Academy will show where you are hitting but no couching and feed back. Working together it is perfect. BTW years ago I bought a Sirt Laser Glock 17 pistol. They are not cheap but I've gotten my moneys worth many times over. I do a lot more dryfire than live fire. But off to the club for some live fire shortly.

I'll probably get this system ... the basic one... just to see. For the last year or more I've been using a laser targeting system in my office... I have the cartridge in a Sig P239 pistol that is an exact copy of my carry gun.

Excellent system. Like one of the other responses I used on my Glocks also. Really improved my trigger control.

10-12 yards with Glock 34.

Started all our grandkids safety, etc ages 5-12. Then my 12 year old did absolutely and maturely at the range.

You have to re-cock every time so I started using a Glock air soft pistol. Works good.

Blume you don't need a rail. You have two additional options-an attachment to the mag and a barrel adaptor. They both work well. I use the mag adapter instead of the rails on my Glocks 'cause it fits easier. But I have both. I think the barrel adapter is the cheapest way to go 'cause you can move it from gun to gun of the same caliber. For example my G43 doesn't have a rail and I didn't want to stick a rail adapter on a 43 mag. Study the Mantis web site and it will be clear.

I have the mantis x3. It shows how much you move the barrel and whether the barrel is level or not. It can help correct things you didn’t realize you had a problem with.

I can see a difference in my shooting after using it.
