Feedback system needed for this forum

When a member has a deal go south based on bad faith, fraud, scams, cheating, lying, bait and switch, dishonesty, etc....as members we should be able to rate the transaction with the other individual. I see this on other gun related forums.
A feedback system designed to weed out bad actors and protect members from financial harm.

How difficult would it be to institute such a system?

Word always got around when this was a privately owned forum. Now I think we just play by overall forum rules as the site seems owned by a bigger group with many forums.

if you are talking about our transaction go for it.. NONE of those things apply. Put it in the lounge where almost anything goes or even in the classified as a post on the original ad

I'm taking about the $250 I lost to scammer on this forum for some Ruger cylinders. The scammer scammed others on the AR15 website as well. Same email.
His PayPal has since been suspended.
I am still fighting with my bank about this transaction.
PayPal and my bank are pointing fingers at each other.
PayPal knew the guy was scamming people, yet they have not reimbursed any of the victims.

Yep, admin banned his IP address but that was it. I asked for more info regarding the member but was denied.

I disagree, three reasons why, 1. it relies on perception of what went wrong, IE. your idea of a 96% gun is not the same as others. then it turns into a pissing match. nothing good comes of it other the knit picking, then peddy fools rear there ugly side. 2. and in my opinion the best reason, this fourm is well run, the Moderators are top knoch, there on it often with in minutes. time after time, scum bags have been routed out. 3. it's always a buyer beware world, buying from over the net is hard, from rule # 1 listed above to that simple, as not being able to hold it, examine it, make a decision based on first hand examination. there is some level of perception and risk. your best bet is to build a relationship with a selling / collector to insure your on the same page. Let's not over complicate this Great Fourm, do your due diligence. Mr. Deerstalker

Fantastic news! My bank finally reimbursed me the $250 that I lost to the PayPal scammer. It took almost a year.
Wow. I surely thought that $250 was gone forever.

There was a "member" here recently DM'ing me about a WTB I posted...you could smell he was a scammer from the start. Reported to Admin and he was gone.....the only burden after that was Admin DMing me every week my WTS needed attention/was going to expire.....well, it was a WTB not WTS...

This was brought up not too long ago.
Lately I've just always tried to come back and comment on the forum about the transaction. That's probably as good as we're ever going to get.
Fortunately I've never had a bad transaction here

We have so few actual problems here,, that a feedback system isn't necessary.

If selling, and you get contacted by a new very inactive person,, be wary.
If buying,, and a new or inactive person tries to offer something,, be wary.

It's EASY to actually look up a member & see how active they are, and how engaged they are in actual discussions here.

And feedback numbers can easily get inflated or mis-represented.

Yeah, this has been brought up before, and more than once....It never fly's.
Myself, I've never had a single problem dealing with ANY long-time member of this forum, and that goes back about 25 years....Sending cash in the mail, taking a personal check, whatever, no problem....I've even had a couple of guys send me my stuff before they received my money....But, like I said, that goes back a lot of years. Plus some of those guys are dead and gone now, so it might be a different story with some of the new-comers, dunno........Just thinking out loud.

Some years ago several of us got nailed by a scammer who, if I remember correctly, had assumed the name and identity of a long-time member who had become inactive. He got me for a couple hundred bucks. He was eventually tracked down but to my knowledge, he didn’t get what he had coming to him.

So exercise caution even when dealing with someone who appears to be a long-time member.

Members dodged a bullet recently with a scammer. This is the second time in recent months a long time member was hacked and impersonated here …. and on other forums. Many thanks to the members who pressed the "Report" button.

Your help is needed to avoid such things. Here's what you can do and should know.

~ Change your password often
~ Do not use the same password on more than one site
~ Use more difficult passwords that include upper case, lower case, numbers and symbols
~ Be wary of payments methods like Venmo, Zelle, PP F&F, etc
~ Use caution if a seller wants to communicate outside...

If I was going to be an internet scammer on this forum or any other gun forum my first problem would be making sure none of the members I go after live anywhere near me.... just seems too complicated to me.
