M77 Target grey scope ring question

I've got a 77 T/G that has a #5 and a #6 ring on it but its a bit high for my liking. I noticed that the difference between these two is .150. However there doesn't seem to be another combination of rings that are shorter that has this same height differential. Am I missing something or am I stuck with the #5 and 6 rings?

You are missing it . You need a #4 ring. Move the #5 from the front to the rear and install a #4 on the front. Each ring height increment is the same -1/8".

SWFA has 77 rings on sale in their "odds & ends" section for $29.00 a pair.

You can also buff a matte stainless ring or rough up a gloss stainless ring to fairly closely match the target grey color, since the TG may be in short supply or more $$.
