Lost my wallet :-(

Got stolen from a locker room later, never recovered, got new license but there were so many hoops to get a new SS card that I gave up.

That's odd. Back in 2004, I needed my SS card to get a job. I had been self employed and had no clue where my card was so I went to the SS office in downtown Pittsburgh. I showed my drivers license and walked out with a new card about five minutes later.

I hope I don't jinx myself with this. Be 70 in two months and have never lost a wallet or key(s). I learned early in a 45 year career driving trucks that carrying a wallet or keys in your pockets is bad. The only key in my pocket was my vehicle key. The rings for my personal and work keys had both a church key and a P38, can be very uncomfortable in a pocket. Personal key ring always on kitchen table or vehicle cup holder/console. Work ring on same table or clipped to belt. Wallets should not be in back pocket if you have a job that requires sitting for long periods. Think sciatica and lower back pain. Wallet was/is carried front pocket and is only 1/2" thick, only has DL, CC, Medical card, carry card and union card. Money is in a money clip which can be tossed one way, while I beat feet the other way, maintaining possession of my wallet and those things that would need replacing (hopefully). In my eyes, back pockets and coat pockets are not for things you don't want to lose.

I cannot stand to carry my wallet in my back pocket. As a result I have lost mine twice. The first time I was getting gas near home and left it on the truck bed cover. I went back to the gas station and walked up and down the road till I found it, aside from being a little flatter it was fine. Second time was in Rome, GA and I looked for at least an hour and never found it. I was at a hotel and I assume I left it on the truck bed cover when I was putting everything else in the truck when we were about to go out. A week or two later I got an envelope in the mail. Someone on their bike had found it and sent it back to me. I sent them a thank you letter and a waffle house or cracker barrel gift card.
Almost lost my cell phone the same way, when we got home I found out it had gotten stuck in the luggage rack on my wife's car that I was driving. We stopped about an hour from home and apparently while I was waiting on everybody else to get to the car, I laid my phone on the top of the car.
Fortunately I have not had a repeat performance yet. It's a pain.

Jimbo 1096: Beat ya! I misplaced my wallet twice two months ago. Thankfully found it both times, in my hoodie which I had hung up in the closet after going crazy looking all over for it. When I pay for something thru a drive-thru, I get out my wallet, but putting it back into my rear pocket while sitting down is difficult, so, I just stick it in my hoodie pocket. The second time I misplaced my wallet, I remembered where I had it the first time, and after looking in all the usual places, found it there.

My Dad used to say, "You'll find it in the last place you look." Pretty much spot on in my experience.

I have come up with something that works pretty well. I finally ask my wife to help me look, turn around & poof, there it is.

I'm glad that you embrace your dorkhood but I'm not looking anymore. Also, your comment was about spinal issues, not loss. Folks who carry their wallet in the front pocket have been known to lose them as well. Heck, some people use their phones as their wallets and the morons who walk around clutching their phones have been known to lose them.

I like you been carry a wallet for 50 plus years never lost it till last summer in Italy out on all places. Checked with the tour guide the restaurant nothing I think I lost it in the bathroom some one must pick it up there some euros in there not much . Luckier the Apple Pay on my phone work fine over there . Anyway sorry about your loss it’s a hassle

I have a pretty good list cell phone story.

I used my phone as a hotspot frequently while working. I normally set it on the bed rail while I used the tailgate as a desk.

I left Rand Corp in Santa Monica and headed north on PCH. Now I frequently used my phone for audiobooks. As I was driving along the book cut out. And I realized I had left my phone on the rail and it was now laying somewhere on a heavily traveled road.

I headed back slowly and suddenly my book started again. Looking carefully I spotted it. It was lying in the dirt just off the highway. Other than a few scratches in the Otterbox case and quite dusty it was fine.

Now you would think I'd learn. But no, I did it twice more while driving around customer's sites. Finally figured out if I just set it in the bed it would be secure when I closed the tailgate. I do learn, but some times very slowly.

Retired now so those days are behind me.

I've been lucky never lost and not recovered a wallet, phone or keys.
Now that doesn't mean I haven't spent time looking for them only to find them right where I left them.

What's wrong with jeans? When I retired 11 years ago I gave most of my "dress" pants, and most of my Dockers that I used to wear for work to Goodwill. I kept one pair of dress pants, and two pairs of Dockers. In thos 11 years I have worn the dress pants twice, and the Dockers once. Every other day I wear jeans, or shorts in the hot weather. I have several pair of jeans and would be happy to not wear anything else for the rest of my days.

To clarify. It's not so much carrying your wallet in your back pocket, it's sitting on it. Hence I don't generally use my back pocket. I have enough back issues already.
Not that my wallets that bulky, it's not like it ever has any money in it.

I guess I'm a dork too. I have been carrying my wallet in my front pocket for as long as I can remember. I do carry a checkbook style wallet, so it lays pretty flat.

I wear Carhartt jeans, the flex material with an extra pocket on the right thigh and a smaller extra pocket on the left thigh. Cell phone goes in the right thigh pocket. Wallet left front pocket, keys right front pocket. Knife clipped to right front pocket. Spare magazine in the left thigh pocket. If I don't have my load out right, things feel off. And for occasions requiring a more dresssy look, I have the same style Carhartts in black. I have no use for trousers that require ironing, or for a suit or a tie.

I read many years back that a good practice was to take the contents of your wallet and place them on your copier. Make a copy, turn them over, make another copy. That way if your wallet goes AWOL, you will know exactly what you are missing.
