 Howdy! Can anybody advise me as whether you can use Unique for 240 gr XTP's? If so what is a good target load/mid range loads. Thanks in advance 8) Bhk Oops, for a 44 mag load.

BUT...BIG BUT... that bullet is NOT designed for ANY kind of midrange target loads and when you stick one in the barrel you'll understand why....AWFUL AWFUL language will ensue.....NO kidding !!

Why, don'tcha have any W-296?

As to the Obsolique, yes, just not as fast as other better suited powders. 11.5 grs should top 1200 fps and is below max...

The fellers omitted the most obvious answer, "What does your reloading manual suggest? You do have at least one manual, don't you?" Unique is a good powder for almost any .44 Magnum load, lead, plated, jacketed and PCed, from 200 grain bullet up to a 265 gr. bullet (I haven't tried anything heavier than 265 gr.).

8.3gr - 10.3gr (1175fps) of Unique for 240gr gold dot. Sooooo try 8.5gr then 9.0gr one or the other should should do you just fine.

Good Heck fellers while unpacking boxes from days gone by, low and behold loading manuals. Older ones from the mid 90's. I'm rich! Thanks to all for the help! BhK

Guess that old Speer data is on the wild side!

That said, I've sent many RCBS 250K bullets downrange in the avatar Flattop powered by 11.0 grs Unique at just over 1200 fps in it's 10" barrel...

(Wasn't as accurate as SR-4759... )

I'm sure you can go a little hotter than what the Hornady manual shows. I was just quoting the manual.
I've said it before that Hornady's manuals are on the conservative side.
I have about 7 manuals but I've probably found more data online doing a goggle search.(try searching 240gr. Using Unique)
