I hope to go hog hunting someday. I have a score to settle---wild hogs ate my great-great grandfather.
Roland and I saw a herd of approx 50 hogs here in mid Tn on Tuesday! I was having flashbacks of Texas!

As an animal damage control agent, I know the problems they can be, as well as how they can take over an area. Yet, so far, in my immediate working area, I haven't gotten any calls to deal with any yet. But when I do,,,,,,,,,!
Great videos Hawkeye. What caliber were you using and what state were you hunting in? I've been hog hunting once in south Georgia but did not like shooting over feeders from a stand. Thinking of going to Florida (bigger feral hog population) and want to stalk without dogs. Anybody familiar with Florida hog hunts and have any advice (where, best guides, etc.). Thanks.

They haven't shown up here in central Va in numbers yet,but there is no bag limit on them as their considered a nuisance spices ,but you do need a hunting licenses to hunt them .
You can hunt them at night just like coyotes and with center fire rifles and handguns in a county that's shotgun only during regular large game season.
Up in the Blue ridge mountains you can go on paid hunts .
These are free roaming hogs and some hunts are guided and some the land owner just points and says " head up that their holler over yonder a ways and you'll come up on a wallar and them hogs ell be alone drictily ".
I've seen a willow or two and footprints while out deer hunting but haven't seen a hog yet else I'd have me a freezer full of fresh pork!.
Won't be long though ,I'm hearing about the farmers seeing more and more hog sign every year.
