Latch pin retainer stripped?

Hi All,

Today I tried to install a stiffer spring in a Blackhawk retaining pin latch. It’s new and the spring came with the Wolff trigger spring kit I ordered. Thought it would be simple. But using the proper screwdriver and spanner the screw turns but the screw turns inside the nut side and doesn’t move off. Any ideas?
