For those of a mind to, I solicit your prayers.

That happened to me January this year. I had a 43mm tumor and eight cancerous lymph nodes removed from my transverse colon. A resectioning. This is now a robotic procedure utilizing about four holes. I had no, repeat no, pain following surgery. The splicing of the colon is the main point and the recover. If you can fart when you come out of anesthesia, you are likely good to go. Seriously, everyone wants to know if gas has been passed. Kind of embarrassing but that is the test of success that the colon is successfully rejoined. I was in the hospital about five days. Went home on day five. Then Chemotherapy for six months. That is not fun and you will feel like not doing much. Sit around mostly. Did not affect my appetite. I was looking forward to weight loss but did not lose any weight. Feel a whole lot better with chemo over. You can beat this thing. Listen to your Oncologist and follow the advice. I was Stage 3 and I hope you are not more than that. You will find out when the pathology report on the tumor comes back following surgery and removal.
Here is some unsolicited advice. Feel free to ignore it. Cancer loves sugar. Cancer cells ferment sugar into fuel to grow and reproduce. Deny them sugar and you retard their growth and spread. I mean no sweeteners of any kind, white sugar, brown sugar, stevia, honey, aspartame, high fructose corn syrup, maple syrup, jams, jellies. No cookies, cakes, pies, brownies, nothing added to your coffee but milk, no ice cream, etc. Also, reduce greatly all carbohydrate intake including bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, squash, beans. The complex carbs do not need to be eliminated as you need some for nutrition but keep it down to one serving a day if you can. Protein and leafy vegetables are what you want to eat. The Cancer fermentation is not into alcohol but an acid. This is part of the Warburg Hypothesis of Cancer developed by German Doctor Otto Warburg in the 1930s. He was awarded a Nobel Prize for his research on Cancer and sugar. You can google it. The NIH, the American Cancer Society and about every other credible medical source such as the Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic reference Dr. Warburg's hypothesis. No on claims Cancer is caused by sugar but it sure is helped to grow and spread by it. This is such a politically unpopular opinion that it is not promoted by the government. Sugar is added to all of our processed foods. The worst is High Fructose Corn Syrup, that is like rocket fuel for Cancer. So, forget about the Coke, Pepsi, Mountain Dew. For me, saying good bye to a Root Beer Float in Summer was tough but if you want to beat this thing you have got to attack it with determination and dedication. No back sliding. Remember you are in a fight for your life and you are going to win this one!
