I made a new sight for my Vaquero, its a SS 45 and I made the ramp from 416 SS.
It is contoured to the barrel and will have a screw to change the blade.
it will have a slot for the blade.
I plan on milling the slot and drill and tap the hole after soldering on the ramp so to be more accurate.
My question(s) are.
Could I use the 95/5 silver solder to affix this sight or do I have to braze it with the High content solder that Ruger used.
I feel the blade was soldered on with something like 45% or better as I had to use oxy/acc to get the blade read hot for removal.
I use both types of solder in my daily use but if 95/5 will hold it I would rather use that .
Also does anyone know what the thickness of a Blackhawk blade is? I am assuming it is 1/8"
I want to make the slot the some so I will have access to different blades.

95/5 or Brownells 96/4 is plenty strong enough and the low temp will not scale the bore. If you have to use silver brazing alloy, drive a tight fitting wood dowel into the bore under the sight location so that it covers the HAZ. It will smoke and char, but will protect the bore from scaling.
