IMR 4198 and 5.56 X 45

I loaded 4198 and the M855 bullets for my Mini-14. Very accurate. I have the Nikon 223 scopes on both my 5.56's I was getting this new scope sighted in on Mini. I had holes touching holes. And 1 inch groups at 100 plus yrds. There are a half dozen powders I like for .223. But I cannot get Varget to shoot with a darn. Varget was loaded for .223 and .270 W and will not group for me.

I suggest you use the 4198 in 223 then. 270W with Varget and 4198 are not a great combos, I would suggest one of the 4831 powders. Good luck

I loaded .270 Varget. Did not like. Varget in .223 did not group well. As far as my .270 W. 4350 4831 is hard to beat. IMR 4320 gave good accuracy in 77 Ruger. .270 W.
