I'm being cussed,,,, again

Well, I'm being softly cussed again.
Apparently,, my "strategically located golden horseshoe" has shined a bit.

Last night, I went to another FoNRA event in Spartanburg SC. Well, after my Asheville event in Feb, and me not winning anything,, I had to jump right back in.
I won a Kel-Tec semi-auto pistol in .22 LR, and a Taurus Judge.

A few friends & family are cussing me,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, again.

Sometimes good stuff happens. Cousin called last night to report his mountain lion sighting and to relate the outcome of the benefit auction he worked yesterday. Guns, crafts, hunts, a little bit of everything with bidders from as far as Pennsylvania. His best estimate was $55-60 K not including the raffles. One Henry rifle was raffled and then donated back for auction THREE times bringing around $800 each time. It was a 4 hour event and he was on the block 2 1/2 hours selling all of the high dollar items.
Tickets for a Heritage 22 revolver were selling 4 for $5 so he bought $20 worth. His lucky day--he won the Heritage. A fitting payback as he'd driven 1/2 way across the state of Iowa to call the auction.

I tell folks,, "To win, you have to play. And I like to play,, so I buy tickets."

Now,, in Feb, at the event I Chair, in Trashville, due to the beer virus,,(Governor's mandates, & County mandates & restrictions,) we had 1/4th the number of attendees as we normally have attend. So, I bought a bunch of tickets on several games & all. Did not win a single item.
Last night,, I spent a lot less, and it had almost 3 times the number of attendees as we'd had, (different state & regs) and I won the 2 guns. Go figure.

But in the grand scheme of things, and seriously,, it's NOT about the winning, as much as it's for the educational programs we fund.
In fact, this coming Thursday, we are having our 2020 State Grant Fund meeting,, virtually, and I get to work to award monies raised to deserving programs. We have 67 grant applications,, and nowhere near enough money to fund everything. But, we'll work to help as many folks as we can.

So, when I'm buying tickets, I know that the money I spend is going to help a lot of GOOD programs.

And to the folks who cuss me,, I just smile & say; "Go ahead,, I spent money helping to fight for firearm freedoms!"

Congrats. I've won quite a few guns, though I think you are whupping me. Like you, I love to play and buy many raffle tickets.

Rumrunner,, I won 3 guns last year, and so far this year, only 2. But, I still have at least one more event I may attend,,,!
My son was a big winner last year. He won a safe, with (3) guns in it, and another gun all at one event. This year, my DIL, who hasn't been able to attend any events,,, is buying tickets online from our State Rep who's posting raffles. A few weeks ago, she bought (2) tickets, for $100 each, and won a pair of AR-15's, one in .223 & the other in .300 Blackout. She's been crowing a bit since!

So, I had to let them know the luck was still running in the family yesterday!

But as mentioned, when we raise this money, it is a way to support all the shooting sports & encourage youth to become good gun people.
