I'm alive

2015 Ford F150s are made of aluminum. A lot of beer cans gave their lives to make that truck. Guess I just have to joke about it. Griping and moaning just don't cut it..

I have to thank all for the good thoughts and prayers. They do help.

Paul, as Bill Clinton would say, "I feel your pain." In the mid '80's a lady pulled out in front of me. I was going about 50, and I hit her broad side. She apparently hadn't seen me, but when we hit, she was already going fast enough that it pulled me in the turn lane with her. I broke my sternum, my nose, my wrist, and several soft tissue injuries. I was in the hospital for a few day. And they were going to arrest me. I was in the ambulance and the cop got in there, I was thinking, he has a gun like I do. He asked me, "have you been drinking?" "NO" "Have you been taking drugs?" "NO" "Did you get enough sleep last night?" "YES". Then I said, "You are making this sound like I did something wrong." "He said we have a witness that said you turned into the turn lane to hit her." I said, "You better find another witness." Then he said, "Why was this gun in your car?" I said, "I was fishing this weekend and forgot to take it out." He talked to the passenger in the car which got him going the right direction, and told me if I had someone meet us at the hospital he'd turn over the gun to him. Long recovery, that broken sternum. Wrist had to have surgery. After all this time I'm much better.

Truth is, I came out a LOT better than the lady that turned in front of me.

By the great grace of the good God I am alive although right now the alternative would almost seem better. I decided to go the range Jan 2, and I was driving up the road I had to pass a slow moving dump truck. When I was in the next lane almost alongside him he turned right in front of me. I thought I was a dead man for sure. We collided and my very choice F150 is now total junk. I'm not a hell of a lot better. It took a large iron bar to pry the door open and I'm not ashamed to admit I screamed like a mad man when they pulled me out. At the moment of impact I thought I was surely a dead mad. First the air bags did not deploy. Thanks Mr. Ford. Also the seat belt did not lock up fast enough so I made a fast acquaintance with the steering wheel. Long story short the paramedics did what they could and off to Tucson to the hospital and the ER. CT scans, x-rays and an ultrasound and then up to a room. Turns out I have a fractured sternum and guys, that ain't fun. About noon Jan 3 they sent me home. I don't think I'll be doing much on the computer for a while although I'll try if I have a good day. The cops took my guns and my stepdaughter had to go get them. They didn't want let her have then so she called her lawyer. She has the guns and just has to bring them over to my place. I don't now what's so great about Percocet, it's not doing a damn thing. Just a heads up on why I may be scarce at times. The night of Jan 3 when I went to bed it hurt so bad I couldn't breathe. A bit better sitting up so I got dressed and back to the ER. Part of the problem was the Percocet. My body just didn't like that stuff and frankly, neither did I.
