I'm a big fan of Bill Whittle, as I imagine many on our forum are. This is a video that could, just possibly, get some anti-gun folks to wake up and think clearly. But short of tieing some of my relatives to a chair and playing this video at high volume I am not likely to ever succeed in getting them to see it. I often "share" things like this on Facebook, asking these same relatives (and anti-gun friends) to just take a few minutes and watch, and then if they disagree with what they saw, discuss it with me. But their minds are closed. But maybe some of you who have not seen this can try with your friends and relatives and have better success than I have had.

Far too many of the true anti-2A people refuse to use logic.

The anti's are as close minded to the truth, as we are to gun control. You have 0 chance of convincing me to give up my guns, and 0 chance of convincing them guns are good. Were can it all lead?

Following his line of reasoning, there's a Marlin .30-30 I've had for over 50 years.... it hasn't killed anybody yet (although more than a few deer have gone to meet their maker in that time).

What I have found is the most convincing argument to get anti-gunners to reconsider their stance on firearms is for them to experience fear from something (like a robbery or assault,) to where they wake up & realize they are responsible for their own protection. They learn that there are bad people, and the cops are reactionary. Once they question their own protection, THEN you can educate them,,,, usually.

But on the flip side,,, when anybody who is neither pro or anti is the victim of senseless shooting violence, (say a drive by or a random shooting, or sees a school shot up, etc,) they seem to go towards the anti-gun side. Even folks who are/were gun owners who suffer something can turn against us. (Can we say Gabby Giffords?)

I've always said it; "Education is the key, but it takes an open mind to be educated."

The pacifist pinko socialist tree hugging hippy part of me sees that a world with out guns would be great.... the problem is that this would have to include governments and just like wishing for a world where there were no evil people who believe they can do and harm all they want for what ever convoluted justification (religion, economics, etc) is just going to be impossible.. .and so the alternative is for 'the people' to have the ultimate power and choice.

I personally see how a person who is a pacifist has the individual right to give up their life instead of defending themselves.... but the conflict I have is no one should have the 'right' to not defend someone else who can't defend themselves.

Very aptly put. No logic at all. Gun control boiled down is a cold equations numbers game versus emotional reaction generally to a tragic event that is extremely rare when compared to the number of guns in the US, the numbers owned by citizens that will never be used in a crime.

Sandy Hook was the perfect example. After that event I saw repeatedly comments, editorials, speeches by politicians, letters to the editors and all that read along the lines of "after this shooting nobody can be opposed to a ban on...(mainly what they call assault weapons)...". Well sure they can. You are highlighting a single event(two if you couple in Aurora Colorado), two guns, two shooters and yet it is logical to ban millions of firearms, 4 million plus just on AR system rifles, on the basis of two criminal acts??
