I've only ever noticed it being untied in that one opening scene, never in a shooting during the show .....
I've been watching it during the bedtime hour and will watch for it . . . .

We used to sit around the day room at the firehouse and enjoy a comedy called Emergency.
Shows like Adam 12 and Emergency were merely scripted versions of today's "really shows" and about as accurate in their potential of how things are.

it always got me how everyone in Dragnet and Adam-12 had a New York accent and talked real fast
My first glimpse at how the things we see on TV might not be accurate was in an episode of 'The F.B.I." with Epherum Zembalist, Jr. (sp?).... he and his team had been chasing a wanted fugitive around the country and finally tracked him down to near Charleston S.C. and they show up at the beach house the guy is hiding out in and then he goes and climbs down some stairs secured to a cliff to get down to the beach for the final foot chase scene.... find me a cliff somewhere along the coast of S.C.

It's near the mountains you see from Houston sometimes.
When they filmed Footloose just south of salt lake city, they had to be careful of camera angle, to not show the mountains on the east and west of the valley; it was supposed to be set in the midwest. And murder she wrote was filmed in eastward beaches of like mendocino, and mill valley and sausalito, to keep sun angles looking like east coast, as long as they dident aim the camera at mt tam or the bay bridge.It's near the mountains you see from Houston sometimes.

Befire algore inventet the internet, the story was Emergency film crew followed real crew around, and refilmed each incident with actors...what, I always thought it was a real depiction. You mean it wasn't . . . . .

He shot and killed one criminal in an episode about the shooting review board. Not sure which revolver they used for him.

I believe that was the episode where the criminal fired at him in the laundry room of his apartment building and the bullet ended up under a shelf. It took the review board people some time to find the bullet but it cleared Joe Friday when it was found.
I liked the line in the episode about where a police officer was shot and Joe arrested the suspect at the point of a shotgun...
"Flinch and you'll be chasing your head down 5th street"!!

Yes, was actually a public laundromat a block away or something but that's the one. And I liked that one too. Been watching them again on MEtv.

That's because that scene was filmed in the Point Fermin area of my town. The house isn't there anymore. We loose some every few years when the cliff crumbles and the fall into the surf.

On the old dragnet radio programs, there was a lot of guns over the years, and like perry mason on tv, almost always came up quickly as registered, or not registered. They were set in l.a. in the 50s and 60s. The line "came back as registered to[...]", or not registered ever at all, also showed up too often on other radio shows of the 30s to 60s. Not just handguns. And there were the old westerns where people recognised whozit's gun without whozit being there. Fiction is fungible.
Never changes, I liked the first 5 or 8 seasons of NCIS even though Abby was always tracing a gun down by its registration and often it was someone in W Virginia or Virginia... but I guess pretty soon it will be true for Virginia...

One of those type shows, the plot they were running was slightly reworked from a machinegun story from the troubles in northern ireland, some 80 years before. Typical elitist pontification.
