Since I bought my first Speed Six I was hooked. When we lost power, internet & TV for a couple days I dug a Speed Six out, switched the rubber to Herretts wood grips and put a factory DAO hammer from a nycpd Service six in it. (Thank God for battery LED lites)

If Ruger ever made a better revolver for carry, I don't know what it would be. Reminds me of a slightly beefier S&W Model 65. I borrowed the DAO hammer from the nycpd Service six in the middle and found another hammer to modify to make nycpd gun DA/SA since I had another nycpd gun anyway(bottom). Found an old post of a former Ruger armoror that showed how to make hammer modification.

That's a real beauty there, hittman. Looks like you might've put some Ren Wax on it.

Nice ones 'stonebuster' and love them Herrett grips on them, had the early Sixes, carried one for years but actually wore it out and had a couple of others that the cylinder ratchets, /ejectors failed on them, ( would rotate, out of position when no cases in the cylinder) oh well and no help from the factory, in fact the service director at that time Dick B., got to the point I would have to send them in money and upgrade to another "latest" models, so hung them all up..yes look great in boxes, and out of the safe, BUT lots of use on the PD range, and oh well, same story with the K framed 357s from S&W, used to split forcing cones, bad design with that flat cut under the cone for the clearance of the gas ring on the cylinder, made for a weak spot, I think we bought some of the last barrels they had in 4 in., many years ago, but like I said look great , especially on a display like Ron does, awesome......(y)(y)

That's the first I've heard about the cylinder ratchet/ejector failures. I usually shoot 38spl in them and have several so maybe if I spread the round count between the several I own they will outlast me. The forcing cones on all my Six Series revolvers look perfect with no noticeable wear unlike my 2016 GP100 which shows significant wear on the rear of the barrel. Thanks for the warning, I'll keep an eye on them.

Looks like another Six Series revolver is going to be mine shortly. Very late production true 3" Service Six 357 in stainless. The latest known Speed Six sn# is 162-547xx from what I read on this forum. This Service Six is 162-534xx, so about 1300 units earlier than the last Speed 6. Advertised as 2 3/4" but sure looks like my other two 3 inchers. EDIT: After jerking me around all week waiting for a shipping price the seller came up with $410 shipping for a $650 gun bring to a grand total of just under over $1100. I asked if she'd lost her mind? Deal's off

My highest numbered Six is a little lower than yours at 162-53009, but it is also a stainless 3" Service Six, model GF33. Pretty scarce configuration. There has been at least one more GF33 found recently by a forum member, his is 162- 52479, so maybe there was a purge of old contract revolvers somewhere. I got mine in 2011, so I know it wasn't part of a recent dumping.

At GB checkout the seller hit me with $407 shipping so I refused to pay. Seller relisted & now back up for auction.
