This is probably not where I should post this but I figure more will see it here. This is a follow up from my post of "Where does it go?". Does anyone have a spare 'safety detent spring' for a MK III? I now realize that was what went zinging across the patio as I was disassembling the pistol. Unfortunately my patio has cracks between the boards. Need I say more?

When dealing wirh springs, work inside a clear plastic bag. Keeps those zingers contained. ;)

OK, I followed your advice and I used your "work in a plastic bag" technique. I started getting dizzy so I yanked the bag off my head.

First thing I did was the magnet and flashlight. Unfortunately I also have cracks between the boards on the patio and i doubt if I can get under it with a magnet. That is on the agenda today. I call Ruger on Monday and see if I can get two of them.

Gotta love the service! Called them about the detent spring and asked if possibly I could get two; just in case I had a repeat of the 'zinger across the patio' reoccurred. They said they would send them out today. I asked if they needed a card number and they said "Oh no, these are free."
