Hello, I am posting this thread so that it possibly helps you out with any problems regarding the safety selector being stuck and your gun not firing . This is what I found out when my 77/22 wouldn't fire and the safety was stuck on fire and wouldn't move to the other 2 positions.
I Took this gun all apart, remove the barrel and action from the stock by removing two screws from bottom of the stock. I took bolt action completely apart and lubed up but still wouldn’t work . This is a Ruger 22 Mag.
I found the problem. I pulled out the trigger and spring by removing a dowel pin for the 10th time. I noticed the sear plate also swivels on a dowel pin. Mine was tight, so I removed the pin and sear plate, lapped it on an India stone, then went back inside where it fits and mounts and used a small needle file to make sure there were no burrs anywhere that would hamper it’s pivot on the dowel pin. I put the trigger and spring back in along with the sear plate and checked the safety lever and it moved to all 3 positions. I put it all back together and was able to dry fire it and maneuver the lever to all 3 positions easily. This was the entire problem the stuck, non moving sear stopped the safety lever from being able to move properly and also hampered the bolt action from reseting each time in order to fire. I hope this helps others out as it seems to be a problem.
