Gun prices?

We all know ammunition and primer/powder prices are going up right now.

Side note: I was at a gun store two days ago, and the counter guy was exposing that he knows some truckers who have driven past the Remington ammunition factory in the middle of the night and the employee parking lot was full. He insisted they are working around the clock.

But my question is, if ammunition prices go up and presumably will stay up. (Hopefully not at the extremely high prices though) Will gun prices also go up? I see them going up a little, but nothing like ammo prices.

Take 22 long rifle prices. Will the gun prices double and triple like the ammunition?

Just seems odd that only one part of the equation is seeing a jump in prices.

Actually, gun prices can & will go up some. Why? Raw materials expenses have risen, as well as shortages of workers related to covid.
As to how much they will rise,,,,,,,,, nobody knows.
But,, supply & demand drives the retail end.

Supply and demand has definitely hit the firearms market. Some firearms are inflated much more than others.

Ruger American rifles are the same price as a year ago.

The Ruger AR556 is nearly double the price of a year ago.

Go to Gunbroker.com. Filter so you only see the items that started at $0.01-1.00 and are selling with No Reserve. Guns have already go high. Now go to a gunshow in a bigger city and watch people PAY $700 for a Glock and $0.80/rd for 9mm reloads and over $2/rd for good self defense ammo.

Prices WILL go as high as people will pay.

That's part of what annoys me here, are all the "what's the going price for ?"
It IS what ever anyone can get for the item.
The actual "worth" is what you can get some idiot to pay.

If you drop the quantity you consume, the price will . . . slowly . . . follow.
Look at gas; was over $4 gallon IN AZ when I moved in here. It then dropped to
just below $2 gallon and stayed down for two years.
Supply was good and consumption was low. - - - SAME THING with firearms and
ammunition. "Make do" with the guns you have and shoot air rifles. The prices
WILL go back down. - - - Keep the PANIC going, and the prices WILL
continue to rise.

Local shops here say even common guns like the 10/22 are sky high.

I was looking for one of the Lipseys 10/22s in stainless with the 24 inch barrel.

I think MSRP is $419.00.

Lipseys has NONE in stock. They’re bringing $500 plus on GunBroker.

However, one small local mom and pop has a great selection of new LC9s in various colors, etc in stock and at “normal” prices ..... even though they’re asking $269.95 for the 2 Wranglers they have.

Thanks, the gun prices listed are actually good for me to see. I’ve always thought Dallas is more expensive, but I guess not. I was at a gun store on Monday, and they had 7 Ruger Wranglers in different colors for $199 each. In fact that’s what got me to thinking about this post. Somewhat normal gun prices with unusually high ammo prices.

patinco.....would you believe I got banned from some forums for trying to teach that same thing to people on the net' for decades??
I keep telling people.....we have power as consumers. we can pinch off retailers and force down prices.....but because guns and ammo are an addiction, people cant stop buying. blame gun rags, media, nra, the list goes on.
time to take up fishing.
if we all did....itll all come down.

Here in CA it's common to see people asking $1,000 for a Glock.
I bought a Springfield XD40 a couple weeks ago. Not because I needed it but because it was a decent deal. The gun, 13 magazines, dies, 4 pounds of powder and 1,000 rounds of factory ammo. $1,000 plus nearly $50 to the state to approve the sale. Trying to sell off some magazines now.

I was picking up my new to me truck handgun last week at my FFL and I told them I was looking for a Glock 19, they just laughed at me.
What I was picking up as a transfer was a Glock 32c..... seems I've been forced to go to the dark side.
as a side note...what I did learn was Glocks aren't nearly as ugly as I thought once you own on.
Still not a fan of striker fired.
