At a recent Senior Saints luncheon at my church, the theme was "Old West." And we were asked to dress for the event and there would be a judging for the man and woman whose otfit was most western.

Define "most western".

"Western" style is meant to be somewhat different to what one normally wears as street clothing or Sunday clothing. "Most western" was intended to separate those who only wore a western hat, or boots, or maybe just added a bandana to their everyday wardrobe.

Yep I only wore them once in a SASS match. Somehow they got hooked together and I just about fell on my face. Spurs are made for a riden not a walken.

But when you do go "a walkin'" you put those jingle bobs on, and maybe loosen the spur straps a mite so the rowels clink on the boardwalk!

One of his more famous songs was "Rye Whisky" which he sang in a drunken manner. Someone once remarked to him that as long as he cold do that song, he'd never be broke.

Tex was truly a multi[talented star. He played on Broadway, in the movies, on radio and televison. And ran, unsuccessfully, for the Senate from Tennessee.

He had the unique advantage of being at the University of Texas with Johnny Lomax and J. Frank Dobe. A whole bunch of Texas lore right there!

What I have noticed is that very few now wear Levis.
If you go to a large rodeo like the one in Houston you will see that 99.9% of the people and contestants are wearing Wranglers.
In the 50s Levis were the choice.

1974: The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) officially endorses Wrangler Jeans.
2001: Wrangler commences making its jeans in Mexico.
