Levi's may have been the choice where you lived, but not in Texas. Levi's had virtually no retail presence here. Instead, as kids we preferred Lee Riders, the jeans with a Lee patch sewn above the right hip. Most popular sport was tearing off the Lee patch on new jeans, occasionally causing the jeans to rip. Mom was never happy when that happened.

As a matter of note, the first jeans of my preference were Roebucks. The front pockets were made differently from other brands and that added to the "cool factor." And my mother washed them and starched them and then dried them on those jeans frames.

My Mother also had those jean frames. I wore starched Wranglers, Western shirts and Cowboy boots to the office and foreign assignments for 30+ years. Even had a pair of steel toed cowboy boots. NEVER again

Oh, hell. Levi's are cowboy jeans. No one in South Dakota would wander around in Wrrrrranglers. Levi jackets, jeans were the real deal. I never put on a pair of Wranglers until I gained enough weight to fill out the back................ 
I wore Levi's for many, many years up until say around 2008 to 2010. Because of issues I had with Levi's, I switched to All American Clothing Company in Arcanum, Ohio in around 2010:

The Levi's had belt loops that would just come unsewn and the zippers would just "pop" open at very embarrassing times (never had those issues before)!
The All American Clothing Company jeans fit well and wear very, very long! Nothing comes unsewn or pops open. I do get holes in the left pocket from carrying an extra mag or two but after many years. Levi's suck IMO!

I trashed all my Levi’s stuff when I found out just how anti-gun they are. They encourage employees to use paid time off to support anti-gun causes, and donate to gun control organizations.
My personal preference is Wrangler or Carhartt, and also Ariat and Noble. I’ve been purchasing much more Carhartt product lately as it seems to fit better. T-shirts are true to size.

I think Carhartt makes some button fly jeans. I wear either Carhartt or Duluth Trading clothing for the most part.

I stopped wearing Levis in the early 80s when they came out pro-gay, anti-gun, and anti-Boy Scouts all at the same time. I loved button fly shrink to fit Levis. I may pick up a pair at a thrift shop if they are cheap but no more new ones. Wrangler 31 MWZ or their regular cut jeans (Dale Jr. jeans my wife calls them) and even the cheap Faded Glory jeans from Wal Mart.

Anyone remember the colored jeans from the 70’s? I had red and green pairs. I think they were Husky brand?

I don't remember the Husky brand, but I remember as a kid always getting the "Husky" size. I guess "Husky" was a nicer and less hurtful way to say Chubby.
