I was just looking at a GP100 on consignment at a local store. It is stainless, 3 inch barrel, fixed sights trjicon front, old style grips. It looks clean and in good shape. It has a few scuffs here and there and a minimal amount of holster wear. The asking price is 499.

Is this a fair price? Everything seems to look high to me lately, maybe I'm stuck in the past.

$595.00 here for a new one with the ugly Hogue grips. I'm guessing then add either shipping or sales tax if you buy it locally.

Your consignment gun would be with NO tax?

It's be nice to get it for $450.00 but ...... the days of the $350.00 revolvers are long gone. Once you go with a 3" GP you'll be hooked! I love mine.

Paid 450.00 for a 4" fixed site .38sp. a year ago. I figured that was a fair price at the time. Hard to say though. Looking at gun prices around here on some local groups one would think they're making guns out of gold these days. Whoops,,, wouldn't want to be seen bashing people for they're prices.

Short lug or full lug? Short lug are hard to find.
I'd say it's a good price with the extra night sight and the old style grips.
Just my $0.02 worth.

You can make offers on consignment guns, never pay full asking price the owner will either say yes or no you have nothing to lose and it may save you some money, I would offer $399 and if he don't take that he might settle at $450.

I'm kind of stuck in the past on gun prices also, but now days to many people and dealers seem to think their used guns that are still in current production are worth as much or more than new.

& the prices are never gonna reverse they`re selves, with the site & grips (if you like em) already on the gun??

Start low $399 & work from there, remember though ,if ya get to meet the owner FTF cash is KING & speaks loudly!

& the 3" 1s never show up in my neck of the woods.

Thanks for the input.

I wish I could negotiate face to face, but that is not how it will work in this case. The shop will call the guy and give him my offer. The last few times I tried there wasn't much wiggle room.

Still trying to decide.

You say the old style grips, are they the compact, or regular old style? The old compacts are selling for $100 on ebay. So that would add to the value of the gun. Ed.

I just bought my first GP100 the day after Christmas. New Blue 4" barrel at a LGS. Paid $569 plus state sales tax. Considering I've been wanting one for years and couldn't find one, I thought it was an "ok" price. Can't wait to take it to the range. Just letting y'all know what a new one may sell for in the store.

I just bought a new stainless 6" GP-100 for $595+tax at a LGS a few weeks ago. The shop I got it from is known not to be the cheapest game in town but they aren't gougers either and they have a huge inventory so you can almost always find what you want in stock. "Instant gratification" is worth a small cost premium.

I got my 4" SS last summer, $475 with ammo and holster, they go for $525+ easily around here.
