I saw the thread about SP101 .38 to .357 cylinder swaps, but I was wondering about doing a .38 to .357 swap in a GP100. Would it take more than the correct cylinder? Thanks in advance.
It shouldn't. The GP's are all made the same (strength wise). The only thing different is the .357 mag cylinder is cut to accept that round whereas the .38 cylinder is cut to only accept the .38 round (about 1/10" shorter).
However, I have to throw in the disclaimer: If you do this swap and something drastic (bad) happens you would have a hard time holding anyone but yourself responsible.
Of course, I couldn't hold anyone else responsible, unless they gave me bad information.
No, this is just me considering an especially good deal on a .38 version. It seems to me like leaving money on the table to not be able to not be able to chamber both.
