Today I am going to make some beans for a good winter meal. Bush Bourbon and Brown Sugar Grillin Beans with ground sirloin and chopped onions. A little bit of butter and Worcestershire sauce with a little black pepper and garlic powder. After it's browned I drain off the excess juice and put in the beans. Let it slowly cook until it's bubbling and then eat it with garlic toast made with Italian bread.

I am not responsible for any resulting wind or upset spouses if you make and eat this delicious potent meal!!

A regular chef. Gordon Ramsy look out. Not sure which Communist Paradise you are in. I would always use the butter beans cooked up in the crock pot for at least overnight with ham and onions. Then cook up some corn bread. The grillin beans, never tried them, how are they different. And the heating system can use the methane?

The Grillin' Beans are different flavors. I use the Bourbon and Brown Sugar variety because I like the taste. For the 10 years that I was Chief Engineer I had the best fed crew in the State. I cooked at least 3 times a week for them. We all chipped in for the cost and I did the cooking.

Where I work now it would be difficult to cook and I work alone most of the time so it isn't practical.

Butter beans are good and I use them frequently. When I make beans for a party or picnic they are usually gone by the time it ends and the pan is wiped clean. Sometimes I make beans from scratch but when I make any kind I always add things to them to make them taste better.

The resulting methane cloud is impressive and will get you called all sorts of names!

OK, you boys are in my ball park now!

This is New Mexico and we all Beaners here. Make no mistake about that. That appellation is a compliment even when expressed through gritted teeth.

Watertender made a nice pot in a simple manner. The Bush family produce a fine product even if it has too much sugar for my taste.

I usually cook my own beans. Pintos, Bolita, Fava, Butter Beans, Cicci, Red, Black, Lentil, Kidney. I love them all and eat them just about every day. When your gut develops the flora to accommodate the high fiber content, flatulence will decrease. In other words, practice makes the man! For those who have digestive issues, try mashing your beans adding olive oil or bacon fat or both. You can add some chopped green chile for a thrill.

New Mexico and Louisiana share a respect for the bean and we take them seriously. I have grown them and hand weeded acres of bean patches. You want to learn about beans and the water to grow them, see the movie "The Milagro Bean Field War". As true today as when the novel was written long ago. It will also give you a sense of what life in northern New Mexico is like. Nothing has changed. The movie was filmed down the road from me.

Wind is part of the enjoyment of beans! If you poke a hole in every one it ruins them.

A friend's mother used to say that every little bean must be heard as well as seen!

A good country trick to reduce the potential gasses associated with beans while cooking. Add a small while peeled potato to the pot. When ready to eat,, THROW AWAY THE POTATO! it will absorb much of the stuff in beans that gives us gas.

But if you eat the potato,, you will have serious gas! (I've never eaten the tater,, but granny said not too,, so,, I obeyed granny.)

Lousy day here...perfect for watching the Trump rally in DC and cooking...a pot of "red" on the right made with fresh Venison and a pot of good old fashioned Chicken noodle soup... can't go wrong either eay

Heinz beans on the plate this morning with The Full English Breakfast. I am stuffed!

I see that Heinz has upped the sauce content and reduced the bean count in their cans. So, moving on to Branston brand or the Irish Batchelor Bean brand. I prefer the UK beans as they are lower in added sugar. I often make my own but like the convenience of a can sometimes.

@Watertender those beans sound delicious! I’ve made similar dishes before. We like to add turkey sausage in our recipies. But results are the same. And overall I think they are healthy.

I might cook some next weekend, it’s still going to be cold here in Dallas.

Enjoy the day!

You guys got me craving a bean dish have to look up my recipes. I know I have a good one somewhere

ALDI has their own brand of the bourbon and brown sugar beans. I started making this with regular Bush baked beans years ago. Sometimes I put mushrooms in it. You can do a lot of things to vary the recipe. It's one of those meals that is great on a cold winter day. I am working 12 hours tonight so may make some when I get home at about 4am.

Good thing there isn't a methane alarm in my house. My wife made split pea soup with ham and onions and garlic last night. It's rather a windy dish shall we say...
